Take Back Us || Kennedy & Em
Everything she had been holding and bottling up since her attack was released the moment she watched Eric take his last breath. Despite every horrible thing that had occurred in her life she had never thought to end another person’s life. That was until Eric had changed her mind. It wasn’t only what he had done to her, or what he had tried to take from her, it was the threat to Zee that had sealed his fate. Em knew part of her wanting this was that Kennedy had afforded her the opportunity to make Eric pay, but it was more than that. For the first time in her life she was in love, and she was happy. Living with Zee the two had always made the best of their lot in life, but that’s all they were doing, making the best. Now both women were in love, they were happy and Eric had tried to snatch that from her hands. It was why he had to die, and not just die but suffer and all at her hands. Knowing that Brad was suffering and that Jason would die in prison was the icing on the cake and all of that could be seen in the straightness in her back and the confidence of her steps as she exited the warehouse. She had seen the last of his life leave him and as it did she took back almost everything that was stolen. It was almost everything because there was still one piece left and tonight she was getting that back too. In the deepest parts of her she knew that it wasn’t just sex with Kennedy, it was also that she loved him and he loved her, but that didn’t stop her need and want for that intimacy back between them.
When she felt his arm around her as they exited for Colorado she felt every step a step away from what was into what would be their future. She didn’t doubt anymore that her future was with this man beside her, and no matter what happened they would be in it together. Still the death had taken its physical toll on her and she rested on the airplane, though the smile never left her lips. She was eager to return to the place they had fallen in love, where long built walls had come crashing down and where two single units became one. Both had shared the deepest and darkest parts of themselves and neither had turned and run, and as that moment cemented them together so did what had happened to Eric.
As they approached the compound she was excited to see the lights on, everything prepared as she requested. Hearing his laugh she turned and grinned, “I wanted things perfect,” she said softly, reaching over and squeezing his hand as they parked. The home was more than inviting when they entered and Em decided she didn’t want to wait anymore, pressing herself to him and letting her body and desires take over. She could feel her pulse start to race as clothing fell to the floor, her core heating with lust, her body becoming ready for what she wanted more than anything else right now.
Smiling at the perfect set up by the roaring fire, just as she requested she moved her lips to his bare chest, wiggling her hips as she became wet with need. Her eyes flickered at the touch of his hands in her hair, a soft moan from her lips as their bare chests touched. Slowly opening her eyes she met his gaze, a soft smile on her lips. “I love you too, so much Kennedy.” She replied quietly, pulling him closer to her, needing the skin on skin contact. “I want this Kennedy, I want us. I’m ready, I promise, I’m not doing this for some misguided worry about losing you. I want this,” she said with truth clear in her eyes. Leaning up she kissed him again, her fingers slowly running down his toned back. “Take us back,” she whispered as she worked kisses along his firm jaw and nibbled his ear.
Kennedy Mitchell had a small ring of people in his life that he would do anything for. He believed in loyalty and tried to show that as much as he expected it – though there were petty instances in his life. Em was one of those acquisitions where he used his power to gain something he was interested in but what he did not expect was to fall in love with her. Thankfully, Johnnie remained loyal; something Kennedy knew was a debt that needed to be repaid. He had not taken the time to talk to the boy and knew he would have to even though they were both comfortable in their new relationships.
Em was different. She was unique. She was a diamond in the rough. He’d never met a woman so lovely, so magical both inside and out. The woman had no clue her abilities of persuasion, something that intrigued him even more given her previous profession. She loved so many things about life and had a way different perspective from the normal crowd he associated with. Women with money or had come from money were boring. She reminded him of the life he could have had – reminded him he was human.
Everything they’d been through over the past few months – from the injury, to the investigation, to the death of her assailant – brought them to this place. He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he loved her. He knew he would die fighting for her. He knew Em was the only one he wanted to spend his life with. There were no doubts. Despite all that knowledge, Kennedy never thought that he would be standing here with her in their Colorado home thinking about anything to do together other than sex. It was the least important thing to him. The months it had taken her to heal Kennedy learned to live without sex because her happiness was enough. Not that he wasn’t still very much attracted to her. When Em pressed against him, Kennedy let out a moan and took a slight step back. He knew if he didn’t focus he would ravage her and possible hurt her. She hadn’t been cleared by the doctors for sexual activity as far as he knew and would never forgive himself if he pushed her to the point of damaging her mental state.
Smiling, his hands instinctively went to her hip and with a gentle squeeze he pulled her a little closer. “Everything is perfect, Em. Because you are.” She was instigating everything and somewhere in his mind her heard a voice tell him saying no would hurt her more. She nibbled his ear and the man groaned again. “Fuck, you just do not play fair.” He wanted her as much as she wanted him. Running his fingers up the back of her neck and in to her hair he pulled her close, pressing her all the more against him and kissed her. Kennedy never felt a riff but he also knew what insecurities could do to a person. “Take us back? Baby, the only thing that bastard took from us was time. I love you. Let me show you.” Without fear of hurting her, Kennedy scooped her up in to his arms and carried her to the bed.
