Camryn, realizing she would have to run, immediately scrunched her nose. “Yeah….No thank you.” She waved her hands in dismissal to his challenged before folding them across her chest, beginning to walk lazily after him. “I am too lazy, too hot and too irritated to run all the way to the waterfall- but you’re still gonna be old no matter what.”

“The waterfall isn’t even that far away Cam.” The other replied with a laugh before waiting so he could fall into step with his sister. “And I am not an old man, there are lots of people on the island that are older than me thank you very much.”

“It was over there. I can’t see it anymore either. I guess it was just a mirage than. Hey, I live to entertain. Or I did, anyway.”

Kenny smiled and turned back to the girl. “I think once you’re an entertainer you’re always one. So, what did you do before this?” He asked gesturing at the island.

“The waterfall??” She repeated in disbelief, eyes widening as she ran after him. “Christ, Ken- I’m full of energy but not that much energy! The waterfall is so far- do you even know how to get there?”

He rolled his eyes and turned around to watch his sister. “Of course I know how to get there.” He said as he continued to walk backwards. “Unless you think you aren’t up to the challenge Cam.” The man said with a grin.

“I think I can see something off there in the distance. Do you see it to, or am I just being crazy. Maybe this place would be more fun if I went crazy.”

“Where? I don’t see anything... I guess that’s to be expected though, I can’t see very well in general. And hey, maybe things would be more lively if we had a crazy girl.”

The blonde rolled her eyes, folding her arms. “You are an old man- 4 years is a lot of years.” She pointed out with a stern finger as she began to walk backwards, throwing her arms out. “Missy is a really old person thing to say! You even talk like an old man.”

Kenny rolled his eyes and let his arms drop down to his sides as he started walking towards his sister. “Oh please, I’m mature but I am definitely not an old man.” He said as he started to chase the girl. “If you think you’re so young and full of energy, I’ll race you to the waterfall!” He yelled as he passed by his sister.

Though a couple of Dawn’s friends were on the island with her, she still needed time away from them and often secluded herself by taking long walks along the shoreline. It wasn’t something to keep her mind off things - she had finally accepted the fact that she probably wasn’t going to get off the island and that no one was out looking for her - but more so something that made her feel at peace and it reminded her of the abundance of paintings she had done back home that looked exactly like the scene that was unfolding before her very eyes. Lost in thought, she slowly walked deeper into the water and stood for there for a moment, the water to the calves of her legs. “Shoot!,” the redhead exclaimed as she heard someone speak up. “You startled me,” Dawn finished, her voice soft.

Kenny raised his hands in to show he meant no harm as she turned on her heels to look at him. “Sorry about that.” He added with a small smile. He hadn’t meant to startle the her, he actually didn’t even know who she was... “Ah, sorry again but quick random question, you didn’t happen to see a girl run this way, did you? A couple inches shorter than me, long wavy blonde hair, she’s 17. We were fighting about something stupid before she stormed off.” He said shaking his head and sighing.

The girl turned around once she heard his voice, her eyes rolling in a dramatic fashion as she folded her arms. “I’ve already got a head start.” She shouted back, raising her eyebrows in challenge as she gestured a hand between them- showing how she was already a good ways away from him. “If you think you can beat me, old man- the being on the island is really getting to your head.”

Kenny laughed at his sister’s wit and sass. It had been awhile since he had seen the girl so... Lively. He was actually happy to see her acting like this instead of just her depressing self. “Old man,” he scoffed and folded his arms over his chest. “I am only four years older than you missy.” The man laughed as a smile crept onto his lips before he started at a brisk fast walk towards the girl.

He had been lying down in the sand, and Camryn had been observing him from afar. Optic blue eyes glazed with slight concern, the flaxen haired girl adjusted herself at her post, tilting her head slightly as worried eyes grazed the flopped stature of her older brother. It then occurred to her that the dimwit was sleeping. She blinked, slowly, and then a sinister grin twisted upon her lips. With a malicious snicker, she walked over to him, sinking down and resting her bare knees in the warm grains of sand. Tucking her hair behind her ears, the girl slowly leaned down towards her sleeping brothers ear….before letting out a high pitched shrill. After the screamed she leapt up and bolted away from him, not knowing how quick he would be to rise from his rudely disturbed slumber.

Kenny’s mind had been elsewhere as he slept, he was dreaming that he and Cam were back home. He actually dreamed that his parents were happy to see that he and Cam were okay and that they didn’t care what the two siblings did, as long as they were safe.. It had actually been a fairly pleasant dream until there was a sudden loud screech in his ear that made his heart nearly jump out of his chest. The mans arms flailed and his long legs kicked as he sat up and tried to move away from where the sound had suddenly come from. Adrenaline rushing through his veins, his eyes ran around the beach looking for any danger until he saw his younger sister with that goofy smile on her face. He placed his hand on his heart, trying to slow it down and breathed out sharply. “Camryn Sheilds!” He shouted at her as a grin crept onto his face. “Are you trying to give your poor older brother a heart attack? Well game on then little sis. Let the war begin.”

Camryn just rolled her eyes, moving to sit on the sun heated grains of sand, childishly burying her hands in it. “No, I’m fine.” She stated with a sigh, looking down as she wiggled her fingers in it, frowning deeply. “Not hungry.” Camryn lifted her hands, watching the tiny rocks roll off her glowing skin before sinking them back under again, tucking her lip between her teeth. Her brother was still there, lingering near her as she tried to think of something to stay. “Do you ever regret it?” She pondered, looking up at him. “Y’know, leaving?”

Kenny sighed at the question, but smiled slightly as he sat down next to Camryn. “Of course I don’t regret it. Mom and dad had ideas, and we had our own. I mean...” The man trailed off trying to figure out the right words to tell his sister. “I do wish that we were somewhere a little easier to live, but this is what happened. And look how long we’ve survived.” He said nudging her a little. “Besides, it hasn’t been all horrible, has it?”

“Anything that can be helpful really. You at least know what’s poison on this island and what isn’t right?”

“Is that a yes that you’re going to come help me look for stuff?”

“Hey, I’ve been looking for my sandals for forever, you wouldn’t happen to know where they are, would you?”

“Probably not what you want to hear but... I think I saw someone make off with them. Sorry Corbin, I didn’t know they were yours.”

He had a point, but that didn’t bury the fact that they were stranded and survival should be the one and only concern. “We don’t have time for that shit.” She muttered. “That hopefulness- the happiness..We need to make sure we don’t lose anyone else..” Camryn said seriously, narrowing her eyes. “It’s not good, Kenneth. It’s not. We were supposed to runaway somewhere where- where theres electricity..fresh drinking water…hell- shelter..Not on a stranded island. I’d rather be worrying about fucking ballet then whether or not I’m going to die here.”

“Hey! Don’t talk like that Cam. We aren’t going to die here, I’ve already told you that. Don’t worry. I’m here.” He said with a small smile. “I won’t let anything bad happen to my little sis... I know we’ve lost people and friends, but you and I are still here together, that’s what matters.” He said in his reassuring tone. He knew what Camryn was saying was right, his first priority had always been her. He needed to see that she was safe. Being stuck here for so long wasn’t ideal, but it’s what happened. Kenny was still determined to make the best of it. “Look, maybe you’re just being crabby because you’re hungry.” The older one said finally and extended his hand to her. “We can go check that one place to see if there’s anything new growing.”

“Ken, you’ve been saying the same bullshit for the past 2 years- “It’s a tropical island”- you think I don’t know that?” She glared at him, folding her arms. “This island is a blood bath waiting to happen.”

“I know, but still isn’t it at least a little better than being at home? You don’t have to go to that stupid ballet practice ever week and no more having to pretend. Isn’t that at least good?” He asked her trying to keep her positive. When all of this had first happened, he always reassured her that they would be found, but after the first few months had gone by, he stopped. Now he was just trying to keep the younger girl happy.

“It’s hot and I’m tired and I’m not the mood in the mood to deal with your pretty whining right now- What the fuck do you want?”

“Come on Cam, lighten up. We’re on a tropical island. Aren’t you at least a little bit excited to be here?”
