Not all men were created equal

We often say that all men were created equal. Though that might be true with regard to legal rights, it is quite obviously untrue overall. I am not promoting the idea of elitism mind you, as I am quite opposed to it, but I am also quite certain that elites do exist. It is just that there is a very clear difference between an elite and an elitist. For instance, you might have a person who is quite untainted by pride, egotism, and boastfulness, but is nonetheless quite superior to those around them. You might also have someone who is far inferior, though they see themselves as being far greater and more deserving than all others.

That, then, is the true definition of pride. Pride is simply a measurement of the delusion by which a person perceives themselves to be greater than or more deserving than those who are actually their superior. The reason for this is that to perceive yourself less than those who are your equal is error, but to perceive yourself greater than those who are your superior is pure delusion.

It should also be noted that this pride is clearly the source of all bullying. Essentially, a bully is nothing more than an inferior person who believes themselves to be greater than or more deserving than those who are superior to them. Since logic is clearly not on this person’s side in convincing others of this delusional superiority, they must turn to threats, intimidation, and violence to forcefully coerce others into accepting their false claims. Ultimately, all the woes of humanity can likely be traced to this one egregious flaw, the sin of pride.

It’s you against the world!

When someone tells you that you won’t succeed at your business, or that you don’t need an education, or that you don’t have what it takes, just remember a few words that I learned the hard way. It’s you against the world. Those people are not vested in your success. They have themselves and their own family to look out for, and if you are successful, well educated, highly skilled, etc.., that just makes their life that much harder. So next time someone who already has a degree tells you that you don’t need a degree, ask yourself, is that truthful, or just their pride talking. Remember, the truth is, you can do it! You can succeed, and that’s exactly what they are really worried about.
