Final Project #2:
Paradise
1. Materials: The materials I used in this project included a cardstock piece of scrapbook paper, paint, markers, and magazine cut-outs. These materials were used to display a desert scene as well as the paradise in the beauty of the earth, which are shown through magazine clippings.
2. Complimentary Colors: I chose to utilize orange and blue. Orange is represented as the sandy, desert dunes and the blue as cacti. I felt that the balance brought to life the magazine clippings and didn’t take away from what they show.
3. Inspiration from a classmate: I was inspired by @oliviarusso2 and her beach scene that she created. I originally was thinking of painting a beach landscape but was drawn to do a desert/nature scene instead. I am happy that I chose a different route because I think it turned out better than I expected. I added in my own cacti to resemble a desert scene even more.
4. Visual and conceptual goals: The visual experience I wanted to create for my viewer was a sense of calmness and peace in paradise. I was inspired by the magazine clipping shown: “what strange paradise” and knew where to evolve from there. I chose to pick scenes that resembled a sense of exploration and thrill of new findings. I find that from traveling, my mind is blown from the scenes and landscapes I see in front of me, thinking: how did the earth create this? I hope that viewers also feel this way when they see this and when they discover new things when they travel!
