Since February is Black History Month, I'd like to take an opportunity to share a batch of OCs which were originally my Angry Birds gijinkas I made during highschool. Here are pictures of Chuck, Hal, and Bubbles (I didn't come up with Willow's design until I was in college, so I've no early pictures of her):

Tessa is a shy artist who aspires to create a meaningful masterpiece that exudes the vibrant wonders of Oceania; so after having graduated from her highschool in New Zealand, she moved to Queensland in Australia to continue her studies at an art college. Her big striped hat carries her daydreams and ideas to her new home as well! Amazed yet curious by what the country has to offer, Tessa plans to take several trips to the Outback to seek for artistic inspirations. However, being a sheltered city mouse with a deep fascination for animals and nature, it would take some time for her to overcome the hurdles of getting used to a new and exciting environment.
Kale is one of the many rural locals who calls the Outback his home. As a long-haul truck driver with a demanding schedule, he goes on lengthy road trips along the highways every day - often travelling from one state to another. Very slow to anger, it's no surprise that he can withstand the long hours and significant challenges on the road. In his spare time, Kale is never seen without his late grandpa's banjo; a day would never go by without picking at its strings, as he sings familiar old tunes in addition to composing new ones. Another pastime of his includes photographing the Australian wilderness and its wildlife. Beneath a laid-back and complacent demeanor hides a yearning for a change in his routine life.
Kernal is a young cheerful Aussie who prefers the thrills of outdoor life, so he's always excited to tag along with adventurous grownups like Kale. Keep in mind that he is an exceptional mechanic thanks to his tinkering skills and a love for machinery! He maintains the condition of Kale's truck throughout the journeys. Having a child around laborious work is by no means safe, but the truckie is patient enough to appreciate the kid's company and cares for him like a nephew, at times buying him sweets. Kernal occasionally showcases a volatile behaviour, such as being obsessed with taking things apart. But he's a bit scatty, so it surprises him to see that he hasn't taken apart something in a while. Do you wonder why his parents send him away on such travels?
🐆 Joules "Plasma Joe" Pereira
The hyperactive Joules or "Plasma Joe", as he likes to refer to himself, visits Australia on a vacation. A former para-athlete who lost both of his legs in a vehicle accident. He's quite boastful and proud of this fact, nonetheless... His fiery competitiveness makes him athirst for a challenge that puts all his looks, legs, and speed to good use. Claims to enjoy travelling alone, but in actuality faces frequent difficulties in adapting to the unfamiliar surroundings wherever he steps foot in… and Down Under is no different. Always rushing off without thinking, Joe aims to be the best traveller - in spite of his fears and insecurities.

When designing these guys, I was thinking of a game that combines the mechanics of kart racing and monster-taming. I'm unsure as to why exactly I chose Australia as the setting but I guess it's a perfect place to race around the open country and catch strange creatures for research, haha.
