Parenting hack via my father: He was a single father and very stressed all the time. We were pretty crazy kids and getting us to do anything was a hassle. He made up a game to get us to eat veggies/try new things, where my siblings and I were bunnies and he was a farmer protecting his crops.

We would have to sneak into the kitchen and ‘steal’ his crops (cut up veggies that he put out for us), while he wasn’t looking (ie: making dinner/getting work done)

If he saw us, he would get really theatrical and ‘chase’ us with a broom, hollerin’ about pesky rabbits and all that, while we would run away and scarf down the veggies in hiding. Then the game would start again.

A carrot has never tasted so good.

(As an aside, I don’t know how he got any work done in the end, but I don’t know if he actually cared so long as we ate lol)

Imagine being best friends with Copia for a long time, but dancing on the line between being friends and lovers, both of you too scared to cross that threshold, both of you convinced the other one doesn't reciprocate your romantic feelings.

But then you hang out together at any chance you get, you have sleepovers where you tell each other secrets and stories from your childhood, from the late hours of the night until the first rays of sunshine creep on the horizon. And you inch closer and closer while you do so, until your bodies brush against each other, until you can't help but intertwine your legs together.

Copia rests his arms around your waist and keeps you as close as possible, you lay your hands on his shoulders, but not long after you can't help but tenderly brush away his wild strands of hair that keep creeping on his forehead, and your hand moves lower, as if by its own volition, and starts caressing his soft, freckled cheek. On the other hand, Copia's hands start wandering up your sides, up your back and he holds you closer and closer, until your chattering has died down and all you can hear is each other's breathing.

You're so close that you could be mistaken for a single person. You can't help but look into one another's eyes, mesmerized by each other's presence, the only important thing in the world at that moment. And you're practically drawn to his lips, they're calling to you, begging to be kissed. So you lean in, however, it takes every fiber of your being to hold yourself back, after all you're just friends. And in a shaky breath you lay the softest kiss you can muster at the corner of his mouth, the best place that you can think of at the moment.

This will let you keep the balance. That evidently platonic kiss doesn't betray your feelings, right?

That gesture draws out a noise from Copia that you'd never heard before, some kind of whine or yelp, but you can't decipher if it's out of surprise or something else. And his retaliation is oh so cruel. When your lips part from him, he chases you almost immediately with his own. There is hesitation in this act, and for a moment they hover over yours. But after a few seconds like this, he moves to your forehead and places there a kiss just as tender as yours.

That doesn't mean anything, right? You're just friends, right?
