Me and my bro in the 19th century inhaling and ingesting various chemicals just for fun
It takes time.
Human bodies are so weird like the upper half consists of every single vital organ and the lower half is legs
important to remember that animal rights is NOT the same as animal welfare
Animal rights as a belief = that animals have the same inalienable rights as people. my bias shows with this comment but i must say it is often verrrrrry anthropocentric, because the main consideration of many of these people is often our own concepts of freedom and choice.
Animal welfare as a belief = that animals deserve to be cared for in a way that is aware of their abilities, emotions, and preferred environment. Quality of life is the most important consideration
It is absolutely not impossible for these two to go together, but ime you will often find that people who put animal welfare first are usually noooooot the same as animal rights people
EXAMPLE: is it good to kill an animal because it will have a very low quality of life if it lives?
A proponent of primarily animal rights is less likely to say yes because we generally consider it bad to kill a person for a poor quality of life, because people often don't wanna die
A proponent of primarily animal welfare will say yes. Because animals to not tend to display an understanding of the far future or their own death, and pain sucks especially when you cannot think past it. It would be cruel to keep it alive because it is suffering, and is very very likely unable to conceptualize this suffering in the same ways suffering people do if at all
I think it is also important to understand that we have rights as people not because we are above animals, but because we ARE animals. Our rights ARE our welfare. We have these rights not because people are "better" but because they are what allow us to thrive. Our sense of freedom and our seemingly unique ability to conceptualize and worry about death is what MAKES our rights important. This also doesn't mean that people who don't appear to have those traits can be killed or whatever, because our understanding of what people want on a base level supersedes individual observation for these traits. Simply because, it is not possible to actually know if a person doesn't have the desires that people who can communicate their inner worlds more effectively (because communication is the main way people attempt to determine things about others) do, and to err on the side of caution simply is the correct thing to do in such a case
it's very frustrating seeing otherwise well-structured posts about media literacy and critical thinking bookended with statements about "nowadays", "nobody has literacy anymore", "this generation is so anti-intellectual", and the like, unquestioningly falling into better past fallacies.
Do we really think the 80s and its Satanic Panic were better at critical thinking? what about the 40s? the Victorian era? societies have always had problems with critical thinking and literacy, because most societies have dealt with propaganda, corrupt leadership, difficulty providing education (due to poverty or discrimination or other issues), and/or people who resist critical thinking (due to privilege or circumstance or what have you). we can criticize media trends without pulling a "well back in the GOOD OLD DAYS" about it.

would like to put this comment i wrote about transgender spamton out there in a post (with a couple edits lol) -
Toby doesnt typically say outright that any of his characters are queer, just like he doesnt really say much directly about the traits of his characters in general. They just are. It's part of their story and their parallels and the things they do; i think that he trusts that the things he and his team put out into the world can be interpreted by the people who care to, which imo is a much more satisfying way to do things (said as a guy who loves analyzing art). Mettaton and Spamton and Mad Mew Mew are transgender in the exact same way Alphys and Undyne and the two gay knights and Susie and Noelle aren't straight, it's just that it's easier to see with the latter group because to be openly not straight (in a way that doesnt include flags and the like) often requires visible, obvious action with or about another person or about traits of the same gender, while being transgender might not necessarily be obvious in a way like that, if they are already transitioned or transitioning. Which Spamton is, when we see him. It's very important to understand the way the games present character traits when talking about trans spamton
Btw pro tip from someone who is far too paranoid for his own good but also loves horror content like a fucking idiot: imagine whatever is scaring you atm trying to sell you weed. This always helps.
I hope the person who wrote this tag knows this was the first thing I saw this morning when I woke up and I actually almost started crying

everyone loves to think of suicidality as this dramatic emergency, but for the chronically suicidal, it just... isn't. it's a regular, often daily part of life. how would you feel if you were told you're not allowed to talk about or mention something that for you is just another tuesday? it'd be pretty frustrating, right?
happy pride month
not you too franziska.... the level of corruption von karmas stoop to sickens me
Alright, but I do always find it a bit funny (not haha funny, but, you know...) when people hate Franziska, but then really just glaze Blackquill. Especially, especially if her whip is one of the reasons you're against her. Like, you draw the line at the whip? But let me guess: Simon siccing Taka at you and doing finger iatsu shit is fine? I don't think you have to do the thing I did where they're my favorite prosecutors from their respective trilogies, but like, come on... at least be a bit more internally consistent. You may as well just say, "Well, it's cool when a man does it."
They don't even have to be ranked similarly, but if you're ranking them with Blackquill high on the list, I feel Franziska shouldn't feasibly be at the fucking bottom of that list.
