car repair cost help appreciated.

though i started my new job in the beginning of april after being unemployed for about a month (i’m a housing advocate/social worker now, formerly security) i’ve only had one full paycheck and one partial paycheck so far due to the pay setup - biweekly, 15th and 30th of the month. i got a partial pay april 30th, full pay may 15th, but that's it so far. in that light, i also just had to drop $810 in car repairs 5/27 today (i maxed out one credit card, and i intend to do other payments for the last $400 remaining). this is a lot to ask and i have been helped by the community so much before, but if anyone wouldn’t mind helping me out with recouping those repair costs, it’d be greatly appreciated! this is only if no one minds! i’m lucky i didn’t have to do the $810 at once, the mechanic is a family friend that cut us a break, but i would like to to pay down that card asap and be able to handle some of the other $400 as quickly as possible. i can provide a receipt if needed, but basically: i needed a u-joint between the steering column and power steering rack and pinion replaced that was causing our taurus to steer like a mack truck instead of a sedan, and two small rod/support pieces to the struts that had broken that were something like $30 or $40 each, that came to about $500+ alone, the rest was labor because our mechanic had a hard time getting things fitted back together.
