took the last weeks of my daughter being 4yo to have her tell me she doesn’t need me to sleep next to her anymore.

initially i felt relief and some snarky comment of “i didn’t need your permission to do that but ok”.

about a week has passed and now i am realizing that her desperate need for me to sleep with her for most of bedtime is probably done. bittersweet. I’ll miss it a bit, to feel like I’m her safe space, but I’m happy she isn’t so afraid any more. Going to a full day of public school does help, despite our skepticism and cautiousness of it.
