Weight: 230lb or more (Since his body structure is different than a man. His body is very dense, plus the added weight of the corrosive mucus covering him)
Waffen has the soul of an artist, and the reason he collects human body parts is that he wants to use them to create his own artworks. of course his works are all pretty gross ^^
I’m currently really struggling with the lore of my heavily headcanoned SCP-106 aka Waffen. I’ve made Waffen originate from World War II and given it a past different from Lawrence’s, but recently I’ve started feeling really anxious about this. Despite the repeated advice from my friends and all of you, I keep obsessing over this again and again so I apologize in advance. I’ll write down my LONG thoughts below, but if you’re generous with the diverse interpretations and headcanons of 106(thank you so much!) you’ll probably find my ramblings interesting.
Essentially, I came up with this headcanon because if I were to associate 106 with war, I thought it would be cool to make him embody “man-made terror”, the horror of weapons created by humanity through the concentration of human malice. Of course I initially liked Lawrence’s story, but it gradually began to feel personally unsatisfying, leading me to add my own interpretation to 106. His own sadism, his supernatural regenerative abilities and durability, and his power to rot and destroy everything around him seemed like the perfect metaphor for an ideal weapon of war. As I added these elements to his backstory, he gradually became less Lawrence and more a different character completely: Waffen.
Even though I only had limited knowledge of World War II technology, weaponry, and history, I thought Waffen would make more sense if he originated from that era. I suppose I wanted to associate him with human experimentation, and since the development of terrifying weapons - such as nuclear weapons - was actively underway during World War II, I wanted to create a lore in which Waffen was born as part of that weapons development. Actually, even now I still like the idea of linking him to humanity's sins.
However, I’ve recently begun to worry that this lore doesn’t make any sense, and that it loses the eerie quality inherent in Lawrence’s backstory, making Waffen feel less like 106. I recently realized that weaponry technology during World War II had advanced far beyond what I had imagined. In that era, developing weapons like tanks and fighter planes would have been more rational than focusing on technologies and tactics like gas weapons, biological weapons, and trench warfare, which are related to 106’s features. Additionally tactics such as blitzkrieg were predominant. This means that if an organization were to conduct experiments that would later lead to the creation of 106, it would be difficult to find a plausible motive for doing so. It always bothers me. Would people really take on such risks and spend such vast sums of money to develop weapons that are (probably) inefficient and limited in scope? While it makes some sense if the purpose is to cause fear/terror/panic, that raises another problem. I’ll discuss this later when we talk about SCP-186.
Furthermore, in the case of Lawrence’s story, elements such as the prolonged trench warfare of WWI, disease, mud, poison gas, and decay perfectly align with the characteristics of 106. I believe Lawrence could almost be called the embodiment of the horrors of WWI. I think this is a major factor that gives 106 his horrifying dignity.
However, attempting to link World War II to the characteristics of 106 doesn’t work well. As I mentioned earlier, World War II was primarily characterized by intense blitzkrieg tactics, which don’t align with 106’s image of a threat that creeps up slowly and steadily. What offers some hope to this problem is that the terror of bombing might be associated with 106’s corrosion marks, which are described as “burnt-out.” Also his decay might literally represent the moral decay of humanity during wartime.
As for the motives of the organization that created Waffen(which I mentioned earlier), I’ve recently made some changes:
The problem that arises here is that I’ve just realized the concept behind SCP-186 “To End All Wars” is very similar to the concept embodied by Waffen, and I’m concerned that this will result in a concept duplication. Both embody the idea that “people became obsessed with creating weapons to instill fear in their enemies, but those very weapons ended up destroying them.” Though, I should note that I created Waffen after learning about Lawrence’s lore and becoming inspired by the idea that there might be a connection between him and 186. It was an attempt to see if 106 could also express something related to the horror of such weapons and human folly. So I have absolutely no intention of complaining about 186, but if the concepts of 186 and Waffen are too similar, I want to avoid a situation where people say “Waffen is nothing more than a humanoid version of 186.” I hope Waffen has his own unique conceptual characteristics, and that those are clearly expressed in his lore.
This is a bit off-topic, but Waffen’s hunts might seem somewhat like film shoots or theater performances of the 1930s and 1940s. I got this idea after reading the experiment report on the SCP Wiki, which states that 106 enjoys being watched by others while he tortures his victims. He hunts humans not only to inflict terror on his prey, but also because he has a desire to spread his own brand of “man-made terror” more widely, wanting more people to witness it and remember just how terrifying he is. If he were needed as a weapon, spreading terror would become his raison d'être, and he would come to take pleasure in it. Even if the victim were his own creator.
This is a very long, complex, and might sounds picky headcanon, but I believe that if I can successfully refine it to make sense, I’ll be able to create even better art of Waffen in the future. I need to write about my scp 106 version ohhh ouhghggg oggghhhhh people experiencing the horrors of war and the lowest lows a human being can go through and turning into monsters made of trauma ohhhhggg... YES random disposable soldier (lawrence) you ARE going to become the embodiment of human carnage, cruelty and suffering throughout all time YES you are going to like it! you better like it! trauma spreading like a fungus/mold and infecting him ohuhhhhh ouuhhhhh I love you 106 ❤️❤️ I don't even think lawrence exists anymore its just 106. it has always been 106. all mentions of him have been scrubbed away it's always been 106 he is suffering he is depravity he is the foundation of the human psyche he has been here since the first true "human" was born and he will never leave until none of us remain and he will make sure we live through every agonizing second of life ouuhhhh
I know it might sound strange since I've always been making things with this approach but, do you think WWII would fit as origin of SCP-106? In other words, will WWII fits with 106's concept?
As depicted in the tale “The Young Man,” which posits that the origins of 106 lie in World War I, elements such as mud, the claustrophobic terror of confined spaces, disease, and decay -all resulting from prolonged trench warfare- fit perfectly with every feature of the original 106 (of course since the tale was written by Dr. Gears, the author of 106, I suppose that’s only natural).
However, as a personal headcanon I’d like to think 106's origin is from WWII. I’ve always felt that 106 is likely connected to destructive, inhumane, and terrifying weapons, for example chemical and biological weapons. Not conventional weapons but artificial threats created with some malicious intent: Man-made terror. When creating lore for 106 based on this interpretation of “man-made terror,” I thought WWII might be a more fitting backdrop.
