I played my first game of Warhammer 40K 5th edition, which is my second game of Warhammer 40K of any edition!

My Necrons assault the Imperial defences.

In the early rounds, the Necrons Warriors suffer casualties as they advance. The concentrated shots of the Imperial Stormtroopers whittle down the troops of living metal, while they manage to make use of cover to protect themselves from retaliatory shots.

The Necron Destroyers are easily taken down in a single round of shooting.

Just because you have mobility and assault weapons, it doesn't mean you should swoop into melta range, I suppose.

The beginning of the end comes for the defenders of the Imperium, as the Necron Lord leads a charge to engage the humans in deadly melee.

A unit after another, the Necron Lord cuts down the enemy until the Imperial commander is felled by its bladed staff. The Necrons break through.

It never hurts to have some polystyrene terrain pieces.

This is an army worth 750pts in the 3rd edition codex.

Other than the Destroyers which were part-printed and part-kitbashed, the models are the original sculpts.

Have you ever considered joining the Death Company?

In the older edition of 40K (I'm looking at 3rd and 2nd), the inclusion of Death Company in a Blood Angels army occurs by random chance, where dice rolls were made before deployment to see if members of regular BA squads converted to a DC marine having succumbed to the Black Rage.

Which means I need models for Death Company ready, even without knowing how many exactly!
