These Healthy Desserts Will Have You Going Back for Seconds on National Dessert Day
National Dessert Day is finally upon us.
Ironically enough, it also happens to fall on Wellness Wednesday. With the holidays approaching and plenty of opportunities to gorge on pie (like this one), we’ve decided to celebrate National Dessert Day by catering to those who are not quite ready to replace their swimsuits with sweaters.
“Dessert that is healthy and tasty? There is no such thing!,” you exclaim. We are here to annihilate that myth like we’ll be annihilating that aforementioned pie come Thanksgiving.
If you’re in the mood to celebrate National Dessert Day, here are a few recipes that cater to your individual needs:
The Paleo Powerhouse
Do you enjoy fall? Do you enjoy lifting weights and talking about leg day? Do you pride yourself in having a summer bod for every season? If so, No-Bake Mini Pumpkin Bites from Savory Lotus are for you. Get the recipe here.
The Anti-Gluten Guru
Sometimes our bodies like to take things away from us. For those with any kind of gluten intolerance, it can be difficult to find a dessert that is both delicious and gluten-free. Search no more, Anti-Gluten Gurus, this gluten-free apple crisp from Gluten-Free Goddess will have you running for seconds (and thirds. Dive in. It is National Dessert Day, after all).
The Vegan Visionary
When it comes to creating tasty treats, being a vegan requires a vision. Omitting all animal products from a dessert recipe may be a no-go for some, but vegan desserts can actually be quite delicious. Take this No-Bake Coconut Pumpkin Pie from Babble, for example. Not only is it delicious, but it is also void of all animal products.
The Daily “Dieter”
“It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle.” For some, eating healthy is simply a way of life. That said, you can still satisfy your sweet tooth without loading up on sugar (note: a good, sugar-laden, butter-infused treat is more than okay every once in a while. It’s all about moderation). When you just want something to satisfy a craving, reach for a frozen banana and give Banana Ice Cream, courtesy of The Kitchn, a try on National Dessert Day.
There you have it. Do you have any healthy recipes to share? Let us know in the comments!
