❝ i can't believe i missed the spring fest at paralia -- what a bummer! ❞
♛ quarterless
in the dimmed lighting of the arcade, a figure could be seen hunched over an older model of pacman near the back of the building, sounds of loud button tapping and grunts of victory and relief filling the air around him. the few customers there walked passed the teenager, newer visitors glancing nervously in his direction while the regulars paid no mind to him; at 3:45 pm everyday, sora's noises join the clangs of pinballs colliding and retro video game music in the background.
for the umpteenth time that thursday afternoon, the pacman's losing sound effect rang out, competing with sora's angsty groan. with an impressive score of 43,360 flashing next to his name on the player screen, the option to continue blinked across the screen in big, mocking, red letters.
the boy scoffed at it, making haste as his hands dove into his pants pockets in search of a quarter to continue his unfairly ended game -- and then to his back pockets. and then to his jacket pockets. he patted all over for the feel of the rounded coin that should've always be on him, but to no avail. by this time, continuing was no longer an option, much to his dismay. with a pained cry, dropped his face to his hands, elbows landing on the surface of the machine with a hard thud. a good fifteen minutes of his life had been spent on that last round. his determination to beat his previous score of 79, 429, the current highest score, had begun to run thin. a strangled noise left his throat upon accepting his defeat.
then, an genius idea involving another genius he knew struck him. lightbulb clicked on, sora dialed up the only contact on speed dial. it took one ring for the other line to pick up -- that nerd probably had his phone right next to him, waiting for sora's call of the day.
❝ heeeey, zexion! wanna do me a solid? ❞
Right. Forgotten— but not lost.

(;╹⌓╹) = what scares the character
N O T H I N G. dare devil to the extreme
(´ q ` ” ) = the character’s 'guilty' pleasure
sea salt ice cream!
@ ¥ °
@ = how the character appears online
¥ = how the character handles money or spends it
spends, spends, spends! whenever given money, sora either saves up until he has enough for a certain thing, or blows all his money at the arcade or local fast food joint.
° = the character’s temperature preferences
warm weather! sora can't handle cold weather, as he is prone to catching colds and acting very babyish at the slightest change. anything below 60 degrees means that the city has sunken into an ice hell.

"I already regret this."
and there they were, standing at the top of the biggest hill in the whole, entire city, one foot on the ground while the other is on their bike's pedal. the sidewalk below is filled with nicks and bumps and everything else that could result in terrible crashes. even so, sora stands straight, drunken on the excitement with adrenaline already pumping through his veins -- while zexion is clearly shaking on his. sora can feel the straight a student's glare of death burning into the side of his face, but he's too pumped to care. with a final inhale to fill his lungs, sora turns to face the bookworm, glee lighting up his hues as he strongly advises,
❝ don't back out now. do it for the vine, zex. ❞
and there's a moment where zexion simply rolls his eyes, which, sora takes as the signal to push his bike down the hill, before following. their screams, the crashes, the flurry of swears directed at sora are all heard and recorded by sora's videocamera at the base of the hill.
"You don't need to be so gentle."
sora scowls in his direction, continuing to gingerly hold the blonde boy’s phone with both his hands despite being nagged for his caution. while joshua takes his sweet time tying both his shoes — seriously, sora’s certain he untied the other one just for fun — the boy had been given the responsibility to take care of his expensive smart phone. in comparison to his own cheap, dented flip phone thats lying in the bottom of his backpack, the weight on his shoulders is immense. once scratch on this baby would result in death. there were reasons why his parents presented him with the crappiest phone on his birthday last year, and those same reasons were making sora sweat under pressure.
❝ just hurry up already! ❞
"This seems familiar."
for a moment, she’s right. the world slows down around them, and while he’s distracted by the ocean in her eyes, the scene changes. no longer does he wear a simple outfit consisting of worn jackets and jeans with bright yellow sneakers; complicated attire consisting of belts and buckles and two sizes too big for his frame is suddenly donned on him while she — she still wears the same plain, white dress. bewilderment widens his eyes and he wants to ask the girl in white what’s going on, but instead, instinct turns his head ever so slightly to the side, allowing his gaze to fall upon a pretty girl with red hair and a radiant smile — but before he can study her face, the moment is lost. they return to their reality of normality.
❝ huh … ❞
sora stares at her, examining her facial features, taking note of the dimples on her cheeks, the cherry, flushed cheeks, before posing an unspoken question in his eyes, asking if she had seen the same thing he had. his words fail him, however, causing his gaze to drop. a distant, thoughtful look falls over his own expression, before he shakes his head, and pulls the both of them off the ground. he definitely agrees on the nostalgia that hangs heavily in the air.
bending down to quickly gather the scattered crayons on the floor, sora pushes them back into her small hands, pausing as his lips part to speak about the strange moment they had shared just seconds before, before deciding against it and offering her a helpless grin instead.
❝ crashing into pretty girls gives me a reason to talk to them. maybe i’ve crashed into you before? ❞
For the moment, she’s a little wrapped up.
There’s a small bed of flowers before the girl, and she’s reclining with one leg over the other - eyes trained, lips curling up without her realization. This kind of quiet in the city of Kairos is hard to find, she thinks. Even so, this kind of flora isn’t currently blooming where she lives, so it’s a necessary evil. A moment later, she rises to get a better angle and apparently, the blonde is really focused, because her back presses into a figure from behind and she whirls like a finicky spindle.
"Oh, no— I’m sorry!"
the soccer ball had rolled far away, a result of some player's totally overdone kick, which normally wouldn't have irked him, but apparently he had been assigned ball boy by some undemocratic ruling. totally unfair, but he went along with it, anyway. catching up to the beaten ball by half jogging, he kicked it back with the same force that knocked it so far in the first place. he took a few seconds to slow down his worked up heart rate before running after it, but in those moments, something had touched against the back of his frame.
❝ huh -- ? ❞ turning to face her, sora's mind briefly fails to continue working, as everything seemed to slow down around him upon catching her gaze. staring at with widening eyes, the first words he blurted out were, ❝ -- thank you, ❞ although he didn't know why. rebounding quickly, embarrassment had immediately flourished, coloring his light skin red and causing a nervous curl of his mouth as a flurry of words to fell from his lips in a waterfall.
❝ ah! i mean -- sorry, i don't know where that came from -- but, um -- yeah, yeah, its no big deal, really -- ahh .. ❞
(…?)
(Strange… I feel it too. No point in dwelling on it, I guess…)
"…we’ve probably passed on the streets once or twice. Or… maybe we’ve seen each other at school…?"
❝ Well .. I meet a lot of people at school, but I never really remember their names or anything, ❞ he paused to hum, taking on a thoughtful expression, ❝ If that's what happened, then maybe I should introduce myself! The name's Sora, its nice to -- properly meet you! I guess. ❞
scarredremembrance started following you
❝ Why do I get the feeling I know you from someplace -- ? ❞
♕: hit 'n run
Typical walk to the grocery store and on her way there she ends up almost being ran over by some maniac, beautiful. No— let’s start from the beginning right before it all happened.
She’d just gotten home from school and walked through the door when her mother had asked her to go back out and fetch a few things for her. Ayano was never one to deny her mother’s requests so without anything being said and a simple nod she was on her way to the grocer to get everything that her mother needed for later. She was minding her own business as she walked, now enjoying the scenery until she was at her destination.
She finally arrived after a leisurely walk, got what she needed and paid what she owed. It was a nice day, really. She might even stop at the park just to doze off for a bit before actually going home, that’s how nice it was today. Her thoughts were soon interrupted as she heard the shouts of people cursing as she passed by. What was going on here..? Her question was soon answered as she looked to her side and saw a boy on a bike coming straight at her. She squeaked in response, it was too late to move out of the way and she was sure that he would crash into her, but to her surprise..he never connected. After giving herself a moment to think about what just happened, she saw that he swerved the bike and missed her, but barely.
Her breath hitched before she gave a sigh of relief. Thank goodness she was unharmed..though she couldn’t say the same about the boy, poor guy crashed into a trash can maybe that’s where he BELONGS. She gives a sigh of relief, but she’s on edge again as he approaches her. "Y—yes! I’m fine, you missed me thank goodness! Why didn’t you stop? You could’ve hurt me really badly if we connected!"
of course, his crash and burn wasn't the first time, nor would it be the last. being able to spring right back up into action, slightly harmed but overall okay, was something he had a knack for. whether it was jumping from palm trees or going into stormy waters on the sorriest, shabbiest raft, sora knew deep in his heart that he was destined for greatness -- that greatness being a stuntman. he had the energy, the endurance, and most importantly, the guts for it all. he didn't regard his current mess up as something to be embarrassed of, so long as nobody got hurt; in fact, this was simply another learning experience. positivity was another thing most stuntmen required.
breathing out a sigh of relief that the girl was fine, the boy slumped over, momentarily giving in to his weariness, before straightening out his posture again. his hands lifted to rest behind the spikes of his head, a chuckle leaving him as he managed a helpless smile.
❝ Sorry, sorry! ❞ sora apologized again through his chuckles, lacking sincerity this time. he nudged his head in the direction of the battered bike behind him, beginning to explain the events, ❝ Y'see, my bike's breaks were broke. I couldn't stop it, 'specially after hitting that hill, but hey -- no harm done, right? ❞
he grinned again, wider this time. giving the girl another once over, his arms fell back to his side at a sudden thought occurrence. she seemed nervous around him -- as if he'd jump back on his bike and make sure he'd be sure to run her the next time. his head tilted, eyes rounding with childlike curiosity. oops. maybe he'd scared her.
❝ Are you sure you're okay? ❞ the boy asked again, limbs folding over his chest. he was doubtful. ❝ You look like you're about to combust, miss. D'ya need to sit down, or something? ❞
A sense of responsibility, directed towards one of the friends that Four had long since been acquainted with at her school, was what drew her to a cake shop on the bright Tuesday afternoon. While the weather outside had the potential to be chilly, inside it seemed just right, and it was there that the intoner peered through the glass at all the treats that were on display. It was hard to tell what the other would like; that sort of thing wasn’t easy to guess, but Four herself didn’t often indulge in sweets like this.
Turning to address a stranger who happened to be standing nearby, Four decided to ask for their objective opinion.
"Excuse me… Do you.. have any preferences here?"
his grandmother had recently reminded sora of visiting her, back in her little house in paralia, through his favorite method -- mailing a card and cash to his apartment. he'd proudly stuffed the money in the side pocket of his backpack on the way to school, spending all eight hours pondering on the various ways to spend his pocket change after school. his final decision had been visiting the local cake shop to spend as little as he could there, so that way, he could burn the left overs at the arcade a few blocks away.
he'd been in the midst of another round of indecisiveness, cerulean eyes bouncing between coconut-banana and strawberry-vanilla, when a fellow customer to his right asked for his opinion. ❝ aah -- ❞he took a moment to respond, eyes scanning the desserts display for anything besides his first two choices that stood out, before returning her gaze.
❝ the coconut-banana cake, ❞ he told her, adding a nod of certainty, before repeating it to the woman behind the counter.
♕: hit 'n run
❝ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜ ᴏᴜᴛ!! ❞
crying out his warning to the unknowing pedestrians in front of him, one hand waving frantically while the other gripped at the rubber handle of the bicycle. his brakes? broke. unfortunately, the boy hadn't discovered the small damaged, as it had been camouflaged by the rest of the nicks and dents left in the bike's frame from previous, over the top stunts. he hadn't detected a single thing wrong earlier that morning when he hopped on it; but then again, he didn't exactly look, either.
so, there he was, pedaling at a quickened pace down an empty sidewalk, nearly a block away from a cross walk, when his fingers squeezed at the breaking device. and squeezed again. and again, finding no avail. he had spared a single glance down, cerulean hues wide with concerned confusion, as his fingers squeezed faster and harder as he desperately willed his bike to come to a stop. his eyes danced as they jumped from handlebar to street, widening as his bike came closer and closer to the curb.
his shouts of panic went against the loud honking of swerving cars. sora brought the sole of his shoe down to the pavement; although he managed to slow down, his luck took another turn for the worst, and next thing he knew, the sidewalk dropped enough for gravity to pull him back into another fast pace. this time, he headed straight for a populated sidewalk.
most people shouted and swore at him as they stepped to the side, but, of course, there was one person who had failed to hear sora's yelling. he swerved the bike the last moment, definitely missing that person; except, his battered bike somehow slipped, losing its balance and causing sora to crash into something hard and metal (later to be identified as a trashcan) with a wincing thud, scratching up his skin and making way for bruises that would appear the next day. even so, the boy jumped back to his feet. without even checking himself or his bike, he hurried over to the almost victim of his quote, unquote, reckless bicycling.
❝ Hey -- sorry, my bad, I didn't mean to almost hit you. I didn't hurt you, right? You okay? ❞
