I wrote my first Richonne fic after discovering them this year :) 

Rick reunites with his family and returns back to Alexandria. He brings along some strangers- will they be friends or foes?

black conversation so I’m not really interested in what anyone else thought about this, but Bear nation how we feelin’ about Sydney’s hair in her dreams and how it connects to other aspects of her life?

the straight wig when she’s panicking about perfection and her body isn’t a body but a vessel for consumption, the curly bob when she’s alone in the dark theatre/when it’s snowing. And then you factor in her fro when she’s eating her favorite meal, and the latter dream hairstyle starts to feel like an in between. Like she’s halfway between conformity for the sake of survival when all eyes are on her and the one time she was alone but at her happiest with the art that is cooking.

not even gonna touch the half done braids convo with Shapiro someone else already wrote meta about that, though I forget whether they also talked about Syd’s natural hair when she’s eating Carm’s dish.

Idk I’m just interested in the increasing complexity behind Syd’s hair as a narrative device for where she’s at mentally, emotionally, and even just physically at her job where braids are the most functional.

I was watching Worms the other day and another thing to add is how Chantel mentioned that Syd always the does same hairstyle and wanted her to try something new. I think Syd replied with 'if it's not broke, don't fix it' or something like that.

I mean, I pretty much do the same tried and true braids too but at least with slight variations. Syd's braids are pretty consistent and I wonder what this uniformity means for her in her worklife. I also wonder if she didn't spend so much time at work, would she have different hair?

I think one of my biggest pet peeve’s rn is people acting like Sydney is 100% in the right all of the time and has never done anything wrong ever when what makes her such a compelling character is the fact that, in spite of all of her hang ups and obvious issues, she tries to be kind.

Sydney is bad at taking no for an answer, she’s impatient, she’s passive aggressive, she’s avoidant, she’s stubborn, sometimes she’s even an asshole. And guess what? None of that invalidates the fact that she’s also incredibly kind and empathetic, or how thoughtful and selfless she is.

She is complex.

Stop reducing her to The World’s Most Perfect Princess Who Can Do No Wrong just because her trauma response is more palatable than Carmen’s. And then, start writing meta on the implications of why a BLACK woman might be so hesitant to voice her concerns and discuss her needs and wants. And when you’re done with that, I want a report on my desk by end of day discussing why even that doesn’t excuse acting like people should just be able to read your mind and intuit everything they’ve ever done to upset you EVEN WHEN they stop and take the time to tell you that they’re there to listen to you. It simply informs why she would do it in the first place.

Support women’s rights AND wrongs. Acting like Sydney is a saint robs her of color and character and three dimensionality. Let Sydney be The Most Perfect Princess Who Can And Has Done Wrong But IDGAF Because She’s Trying Her Best

Top 3 Michonne Looks

1st: S4 Prison-era Michonne (also best outfits... that pink top 🧎🏾‍♀️). Also liked her story line and I am delusionally holding onto the fact that they filmed a whole episode of her out there alone on her horse looking for the governor...

2nd: Season 10 Michonne. Season 9 and 10 are interchangeable but this season has better outfits I think. Love the new hair - in some African traditions, someone shaves their head in mourning of someone who has passed so I imagine that she only did half because a part of didn't believe that Rick was fully gone. BUT I think she could have looked amazing with a full shave... something like Danai usually rocks

3rd: Seaon 9A Michonne. Now Mama had a GLOWWW this part of the season (perhaps courtesy of Mr Grimes). Also love the lighter locs and the shells.

HM: The people might not like this but Saviour Michonne 😭😭 I can't help it she had me wanting be on my knees! And I love that she had short hair

Thinking about which phsyical version of Rick I liked best/picture in most fics that I read. In my fic, he's definitely TOWL Rick but he's not my favourite - perhaps top 3!

I think my winner is season 6 Rick (obvious Richonne bias) 🥰

Least favourite is bare-faced season 5B Rick. He was too insufferable here and he almost lost me completely... Maybe too white-picket fence, 2,5 kids for me (derogatory version) 👀

@lamorenareina & @michonnesheadband if Okafor met Michonne & got to observe her he definitely would've been enchanted by her. I think Rick and Okafor are similar with Rick being more cautious, introverted & cunning. As soon as Rick had the thought that Donald was checking for his Michonne Rick would've been plotting Okafor's demise. I wish they would've given Rick some competition for Michonne's attention. On the main show I think Scott would've been a perfect rival for Rick. Ladies would you consider writing a story with a jealous, plotting Rick?

I was honestly thinking that's where they were gonna go in the series but then they killed him 2.5 seconds in 🙄

We missed all of the opportunities to see jealous Rick though because if we ever see them again, everyone is gonna know that's Rick's wife and not to mess with her lol

She's a badass warrior, super smart and lethal, and the biggest cutiepie in the apocalypse, my beloved Michonne Grimes.

Thinking about Michonne and how fun she is... she's extremely cool too (and smart and emotionally intelligent and beautiful), but what really made me love her was not the badassery but all of those endearing little things. She's silly. She loves kitschy art and candy bars and comics. She's an optimist. She's competitive, but only if it's fun. Her humor consists of either dry and witty jokes, or stuff her three year old son would have laughed at.

They could have easily just made her a serious, intimidating badass character with a cool weapon and people would have loved it, but she's so well rounded this way. Human. Infinitely cooler. Love her.

Aah yes!! You don't know how many times I've encountered a 'Michonne went soft' or 'Her character got nerfed when get with Rick' on other platforms... It's well established that she is THE badass but the rest of the fandom refuses to see anything past that. They don't acknowledge her pain nor the fact that she she's been able to heal through it. She's not allowed to be complex like Carol or Maggie...

Did you know the writers were thinking about killing Carl off at some point? I'm so glad they didn't, because that would have really undermined one of the main themes of the show ❤️

This is so good! This is what I pictured when I started writing my fic 😭
