If you’re not watching Sirens on Thursday nights at 10pm on USA, then you’re missing out. Not only is it one of the funniest shows out there right now — being that it’s co-created and executive produced by Denis Leary — but it’s also highly inclusive.

It centers on a team of Chicago EMTs, and focuses on the odd partnership of three men, Brian, who is the new guy, Johnny, a guy with a slow developing emotional range, and Hank, an African-American homosexual who defies all stereotypes the rest of popular media inflicts upon gay men. Their team is fleshed out in Cash, Voodoo, and Stats. And last night’s episode showed that Voodoo is asexual.

It took Brian from confusion and denail, to attempts to understand, and eventually wrapped it all around in a bow of acceptance. Brian went from the ideology that asexuals “just haven’t had proper sex,” to wanting to understand what asexual means — and failing — and finally all the way to realizing that sex isn’t what defines relationships, and that just being around Voodoo is enough for him.

When people are like …

“There are only two genders, being genderfluid isn’t really a thing.”

and I am just over here living my life, pretty open about the fact that I am genderfluid.

This is why conversation is so extremely important! However, I guess my photos only explain so much for some people. Hopefully GenderFlux will have the major impact I dream of soon and create the conversation the world needs for it to begin understanding a less traditional, but very real truth about Gender. I have been working on a few things that I hope will carry my message further into the world as well. I have a song called “Crown” coming soon and recently, a feature in a documentary called Genderalia coming out in September, my birthday month!

Until then, I will just be over here.

"I don’t mind!" Todd insisted. "Um, are you just shelving them or…?" He tried asking awkwardly. Maybe he shouldn’t have offered to help, he didn’t want to mess anything up or annoy the other man by sticking around too long.

"I'm just organizing them by section," Khairo said nonchalantly.  "These are all recipe books, so they're on one of the top shelves and I'm not quite able to reach it, but I can show you where to put them," he offered thankfully, as he himself was too short to reach the top shelves, so having someone a few inches taller was really helpful.  He carried the books and lead the other boy to the far end of the aisle they were in.  "These go up there," he said, pointing to the top shelf.

Khairo smiled “Yea we’re a bit of a new shop, and we aren’t in a big part of town either so we aren’t widely known,”  he said softly shrugging  ”It’s okay though because we have our fair share of regulars who visit often enough, if you need anything just holler, I’ve got a few more books to put away,” he said motioning with the book stack in his hands

Little Bookshop in a Big City

Khairo walked down the aisle of shelves placing the new arrivals in their proper places.  He inhaled the wonderful smell of new books and hummed happily to himself.  Khairo had been working his whole life to be able to run his own shop and he'd finally made it work.

*brring*  the little bell above the door rung as a new customer entered.

"I'll be with you in a moment" he called to the front of the shop.

Friends on an online game and accidentally meet in person

Khairo bounded up the steps of his apartment building. Swinging into his apartment he plopped down on the couch. He waved his hand in a vague gesture and his laptop flew onto his lap. He opened his internet...

Khairo logged onto his site and stood up to grab a cup of tea before he stationed himself on the couch for the next few hours.  He walked into his kitchen, flicking his fingers at the cupboard the door swung open and a cup danced on to the counter.  he flicked his other hand towards the stove and it turned on.  Khai flicked through his phone as he waited for the water to heat.  When it was done he quickly made his tea and went back to the couch.  He plopped down on the couch and picked up his laptop.  The messages in the corner of the sites screen flashed.  He giggled at Lefay's message.
