I think that maybe my response was unclear. I was saying that the assumption that the US is uniquely stupid/obtuse is a different form of the same phenomenon as US exceptionalism, because both falsely attribute uncommon uniqueness to the US. I'm sorry if it was unclear, I was expressing agreement with you.
I bring a sort of "children being fed and clothed with a roof over their head is the bare minimum and not enough to warrant your celebration as a parent" vibe to the father's day discussion on discord that the single dads whose kids went no-contact really don't like.
