THE ARISTOCATS 1970, dir. Wolfgang Reitherman
As seen in Pensacola, Florida.
Instead of this now notorious drug [LSD], Disney's staff artists got "high" on classical music, then visualized their sensations. What resulted was a well-nigh magical series of images involving animals, gods and goddesses, mythical creatures, cupids, demos and nature in its many moods. In mod parlance, these artists were "stoned out". So today's youth discover a close kinship twith those artists of long ago. The Pittsburgh Press. April 5, 1970.
By the 1960s, however, the public was ripe for what youthful audiences perceived as a mind-expanding event. [Ollie] Johnston laughs, "They thought we were on a trip when we made it," he says. "Every time we'd go talk to a school or something, they'd ask us what we were on!" Herald-Journal. October 5, 1990.
All roads unfortunately lead back to tumblr.
