The road divides the residential areas and Sherbrooke forest, one of the few patches of native vegetation left in the urban fringes of Melbourne. Plants from the northern hemisphere were much preferred to natives as they reminded the planters of Europe and were much more dramatic over the seasons. Much has changed now, but their legacy remains.

Six years ago this February, a series of bushfires consumed over 4,500 sq km across the state of Victoria, Australia. Today, these forests are regenerating from what the fires left behind.
