Khawla is the sister of Mohiy from @mohiy-gaza2. I'm in direct contact with him, as well as Khawla when she can get access to internet connection but it's much less often in her case
Hello everyone, this is Abi, the campaign organizer, sorry for the lack of updates for a while. my life got a little away from me, but I wanted/needed to make this update for you all in light of recent and ongoing events. The supposed ceasefire came and went and Palestinian families are still at the mercy of the horrible war and defined genocide, still crying out to a world that is either indifferent to, or don't have the abilities to, help them. I will continue to try to help this family to the best of my abilities but in these last months since the year started, I've been struggling to do so.
On December 31st GoFundMe requested that I send them information for how I've been sending money to the recipients and how they've been receiving it. A completely understandable request. However, money from the campaign would not be transferred to the bank account I created for sending money abroad until their review period was over and said everything looked fine, which is what should've happened. But for the last 4 months despite my sending the information they ask for, I never heard back. GoFundMe works in an email only system so there was no number I could call for help on the issue, so I've been stuck in an endless string of emails that never get follow ups. there's a automated deadline in place and on April 20th, if I still cannot get the issue resolved, the campaign will close. So to give everyone a good amount of time, (as i have little hope for a follow-up at this point), If at any point you donated to this campaign between the beginning of this year and now, feel free to request a refund as I, and more importantly Khawla's family, has had no access to what you so generously gave.
I'll also share that I've since extended my help to her husband's family/her extended family and made a campaign for them on GoFundMe as well; if you like, you could move money there instead [https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-ahmed-and-his-family-survive-in-gaza-crisis]. As for the future of this campaign, I may just try to make a new one on GoFundMe but given the issues I've faced, and that I've heard other's have faced, I may relocate. Otherwise I've created a paypal account under my name for Khawla under their request [paypal.me/KhawlaFunds]. A couple people have asked about it as Khawla and her family have shared it with people, and I'm sorry about my lack of updates on it until now. I tried telling people who emailed me that it was legit when contacted but i have no idea if they got my emails. As for more legitimate websites to donate to, I'll try to decide on that before the final closure of this fundraiser and let you know. Still though, I wanted to thank you all for sticking with us, or at least helping this campaign in any way that you've seen fit. It has truly meant a lot to me and Khawla's family. It truly means a lot and I hope you'll stick with this fundraiser as long as it's around.
