A few stills of the 1969 Korean horror film, filmed in 3D, The Devil and the Beauty, directed by Lee Yong-Min. It appears to have been restored in 2014 by the Korean Film Archive, with Filmmuseum München helping with the 3D side. ——— We can’t find any much written about this online, nor can we find any evidence that it has screened in any of NYC’s rep houses. As dated as those Republic serials are (and were, decades before we were born!), they’re still more imaginative, innocent, optimistic, heroic, and just plain better than the mega-corporate superhero content created now. It’s well worth seeking out some of the greatest hits from this cycle, including Adventures of Captain Marvel and Daredevils of the Red Circle, both available on HD home video.
