Gilbertsocrinus

They are shaped like a grappling hook where five two pronged curving hooks emerge out of the tegmen. A Pirasocrinid

Despite the gnarly experience, its cup and chimney is only about 3 cm tall

Dorycrinus

alt: a crinoid is an echinoderm with radial arms jutting out of a central cup atop a stalk, like a sea flower with feathery tentacles instead of petals. Dorycrinus is one of many spiky crinoids from the carboniferous. On its cup, above the attachment points of its feathery arms, are 5 large radial spines and one smaller central spine to either deter parasites from attaching on it, or fend off predators that attack said parasites which will also damage the crinoid.

Gennaeocrinus goldringae

alt: Gennaeocrinus is a bizzare spiny crinoid that seems to have 'antlers' coming out of its cup that looks somewhat like a moose's antler. it also has cirri, thin segmented tentacle like stalks coming out of its main stalk, like leafless twigs.

Corocrinus calypso

alt: i wanted to go more colorful with this crinoid (an echinoderm with radial arms jutying out of a central cup atop a stalk, like a sea flower with feathery tentacles), here depicted with bands of blue and yellow for the arm and stalks, with red pinnules, the feather bits on the arms. most crinoids today live in the deep sea, but corocrinus and many others in the paleozoic lived in shallow water. Corocrinus seems to have this beautiful triangle/hexagon grid skeleton thingy on its cup instead of the usual hexagon plates

Macrocrinus

alt: Macrocrinus, a crinoid (echinoderms with radial arms attached to a central cup suspended on a stalk like a flower, hence the name sea lily.) with something called an "anal chimney" (yes that's what it's called.) which is an extension on its tegmen that looks like a long tapering tube jutting out of its cup. This tube is meant as a deterrent for platyceratid snails from stealing their shit, literally, since it places their anus and undigested food further away from the base of the cup which the snails have an easier time attaching to. The snails of course, responded to this by simply drilling into the sides of these anal chimneys...

Platycrinites saffordi

Platycrinites is unique in that the stalk on this carboniferous crinoid is twisted in a way that makes it look like a cartoon DNA. It's also quite a big crinoid with the cup being 9 cm in some specimens.

Arthroacantha carpenteri

what's unique with Arthroacantha is the tiny moveable spines that pepper the surface of its cup possibly to brush away any snail parasites looking to perch on it
