It’s Autumn, what did you expect?” Alexandria commented, “You could always move closer to it, unless you’re scared of the fire?” Alex mocked before shrugging. “It’s been okay, all these drinks taste so watered down, they’re horrible. I was expecting more, youknow?” 

“I mean sure but... I didn’t think it’d get this bad,” she shrugged. Kiara gave the other a little glare before moving closer to the fire as if to prove a point. “Were you really expecting more? You clearly don’t go to a lot of these parties. The drinks are almost always a disappointment.”

“Oh, who cares about that? They’re all wasted, who’s going to remember?” Charlotte attempted to convince her. “Really?” She asked, immediately lighting up at her words, “I promise it won’t be embarrassing.” 

Pausing, Kiara knew Charlotte was technically right, “Ugh... I guess you have a point there,” but when she said it wouldn’t be embarrassing, Kiara was not convinced, “I wouldn’t go that far. When is karaoke not embarrassing?” A soft laugh left her lips. “Alright what should we sing?”

“Honest answer?” Kiara asked, keeping her tone hushed. “I think... I think it’s a wild boar.”

“Oh absolutely,” Nora agreed. “I don’t even know why I came to be honest. I’m not involved in the academy at all. Guess my subconscious thought it might be a good idea to meet new people, or something like that.” By subconscious, she meant her dinosaur, who had been getting rather antsy– which by extension meant that Nora was also antsy. Having a telepathic dinosaur to act out her emotions wasn’t all bad.

“This isn’t just for students and staff you know,” Kiara pointed out to Nora. “But yeah I guess it’s good to get yourself out there,” she added with a little shrug. “Look you should be proud of yourself for coming in the first place. You could’ve totally figured out an excuse to not come last minute but you still made it. That’s a feat in itself.”

Aspen lined up her shot, moving the ball in her hands before throwing it to the cups on Kiara’s side of the table, hitting the edge of the cup as the ping pong ball fell to the floor, “Ah, damnit.” Aspen exclaimed. She was already two drinks gone and wasn’t liking her chances. “Wanna do me a favour and miss?” 

“I love you and all, but if I miss it’ll be a pure accident,” Kiara insisted. “I will not throw a game– sorry. I just am physically enable to do that,” she admitted. “But maybe you’ll get lucky, maybe I’ll miss one or two,” she shrugged.

Amused, Kiara let out a chuckle as she looked up at Theo. “Look I’m just letting them know who’s boss. I do everything to win– even if it includes staring down the cups.”

“I know it’s now officially Autumn, but does it have to switch to being so damn cold all of a sudden?” Nora asked, sticking her hands out to warm them up by the fire. “I hate the smell of my clothes the day after a bonfire, but honestly, I’d do anything to warm up right about now.”

“You can say that again,” she sympathized with a nod, keeping close to the fire as well. “Honestly if I had know it would get this chilly I probably would’ve stayed home. Being curled up in a blanket on the couch sounds like heaven right about now.”

Aspen nodded in agreement, leaning down in front of the cat and pouring a little bit of water in her hands for the cat to drink. It took the cat a second, but it responded and started to drink. “That’s a good sign, isn’t it?” 

“Definitely,” she nodded, before smiling to herself as she looked at the cat and Aspen. “Who knows? Maybe you’ll end up taking it home. It seems to really like you.”

James is sitting on a bench in town near the lake, he was reading but he was yet again distracted by the picture of his family he uses as a bookmark. He jumped when the other spoke. “Sorry, what did you say? I was a bit distracted.”

“Yeah I got that,” Kiara replied. “I was going to ask if you saw a ball roll past here but if I only shifted your focus now, I doubt you saw it. Thanks anyways.”
