About: I'm 25 (born 2001) and live on the East Coast in the US. I go by Kickabel because when we were little my sister Sammy couldn't pronounce my name, Isabel, correctly. I don't go by Isabel anyway, I go by Izzy in day to day life. Since sisterhood pretty much defines my life, let's go with she/her. That is indeed my face in my pfp.

Am I disabled myself? Yes and no. I have OCD which affects my life but ultimately I am still able to take care of my younger sisters with far higher support needs than my own.

I understand the transition away from the term "comorbid" (any medical terms with morbid in it sounds more scary than it should) but also I love the word. Co-morbid. Me and my morbids are co. My company of morbids. My medical condition, my statistically likely to be present medical condition, and me.

sometimes people will make you feel stupid for being kind. this makes it hard to stay kind. it is important that you do anyway. if you have become unkind, it is important to remember that you can become kind again. it's a skill, not an inherent trait.

i think the TLC network may have been one of the most evil stations in history, their only shows were like; watch fat and disabled people suffer compounding health issues, vouyeristically observe the habits and lives of the autistic and mentally ill, watch women in poverty be shipped overseas to marry neglectful and abusive american men in order to not die from poverty, and the reactionary evangelical cult family show

the energy of every person on this website that loves policing others, making call out posts, and compiling google docs and drives is beyond surveillance state it's surveillance society it's "this is going on your permanent record" it's nightmarish

actually tho for people who have spent their whole lives disabled they are often put into the category of "person who cannot and will not achieve anything ever in their lives" including getting qualifications from education or being employed. it's a form of ableism we don't really discuss a lot because a lot of disabled persons are being asked to push themselves through their difficulties to function on the same level as their abled peers but it is not in any way easier being someone that everyone has given up on. who doesn't get encouragement growing up, never given goals to reach, never asked for their dreams or aspirations because everyone assumes they are incapable of achievement. i feel like the disability inspiration porn comes from this group of disabled people when they manage to do anything because the abled perception of someone who has crossed the disability event horizon into "too disabled" is someone who is "useless". and encouraging people or believing in them isn't necessarily the same as pressuring them to push past their limits. and some disabled people won't manage to finish schooling or get a job or be in a relationship or do something independently, but they still deserve to try and still deserve to have someone believing in them. even if abled metrics of success are nonsensical, failing to meet them still gets you exposed to negatives attitudes, and it can still make you feel like crap
