And by that, Kids can do anything they set their hearts on. This is the blog for the upcoming, 80s cartoon inspired, “Kids Can Too!” self project. Featuring a mute black boy named Staxx who’s ‘speaking’ resembles looney toons, a rich trans girl Cassidy who loves adventure, and Flitz! He sings, dances, and info on him is restricted until the scene with him gets animated.

I wanted to try a ‘more realistic’ art style for the first time-ish. And I just LOVE how Flitz turned out! I know it’s probably not perfect. But I loved it too much not to share!

Honestly as a blind person I’m so tired of seeing fictional blind characters who don’t use white canes or other guides. “They have special powers so they know what’s around them” or “they’re confident enough to not need a guide” are common tropes, and I’m tired.

Are people scared that using a white cane will make their blind character seem weak? They can’t use a cane because they’re so special that they already know what’s around them, and other blind people who use guides are inferior because they’re not special?

I’m tired. Give your blind characters white canes and other guides. Let them hold onto their friends, let them have guide dogs. Don’t make white cane users feel ostracized for not being “strong enough” to go without.

Another thing that pisses me off is when a sighted character comes up with the fantasy equivalent of braille and teaches it to the blind character. Braille was invented by Louis Braille, a blind man, in 1824. The blind character should be the one coming up with it.

Not to derail this, because it happens particularly often to blind people, but let disabled people be disabled.

He lost his arm and has a prosthetic that works exactly like an arm is not representation. Same with being blind like OP said.

So let the blind be blind. Let disabled folk be disabled.

This post LITERALLY came up the morning after I designed my blind lawyer oc with a white cane (and 2nd lawyer too.) She’s a suave, sassy, lesbian, uses the cane like a sword, cause guess what she’s designed after Lady Justice. I’m at the name “Maria Diez” at the moment.

I’m just imagining Maria using her opponent/villainish Lawyer’s arm to guilde her now. Like she just swooped in with a flirtatious grin and grabbed the snarky woman’s arm. And all suave says she ‘doesn’t know the area yet’ or something to imply she doesn’t actually need to hold Carla Bennigan’s arm to get around. Carla on the other hand, although bitter, also very easily embarrassed. And ALSO lesbian.

Clown Flitz.

Did I draw this a few days after a certain evil clown demon aired in the 2nd episode of a demon show? Yes.

Seriously though I just love creepy clowns. Beetlejuice. That one clown villain in the original Ben 10. That nightmare circus in “We’re Back”. They stuck with me after all these years.

I would really love to make a well done spooky crircus. Though the ideas are still concepts at the moment. I made this one clown ringmaster that has potential though. And Flitz running his own nightmare circus while juggling glowing explosives is also really good~.

He sings! He dances! He breaks the fourth wall and can toss you through it! He’s evil! He’s zany. And just a happy guy in general! A bit mad (as all scientists should be). And has an army of doggy minions that he so adores!

Seriously, hurt one of his dog minion-daughters and he will slice you. With buzzsaws. From his ‘hands’.

Flitz is the nemesis of Staxx and Cassidy. He may be a bit old and glitchy but he’s as energetic as a fright train. Yes, he falls apart sometimes (no literally, never EVER emotionally), but what else do ya expect from 37 year tech? Luckily he’s got George to help him put himself back together. Who’s George? Oh don’t worry about him.

Got an idea for two mafia husbands. Full on imagened scenes.

The similar body types I had in mind lead to me referencing the couple in the top corner. And just. Honestly I loved the mobster two a lot better. They became full on REDESIGN. Let’s face it that top couple was a boring steroptypical gay couple. Forced now I see.

And just- MAFIA HUSBANDS are so much better than anything. They better be allowed past censorship, cause each scene with them is wholesome comedy gold.

I recorded voice audio today! My dad’s art is audio editing, and so asked him to voice Mayor Richard Penwood for the pilot.

I was. OVERWELMED with excitement, my heart couldn’t take it. He’s a GOOD temporary voice for him. My dad’s always been good at voices so I think the audio clip sounds WONDERFUL.

Redrew the Mayor ‘model sheet’ because I’ve gotten better at drawing him and needed a new set standard for his proportions. But my word, I do love how Richard came out!

So I’ve been going star crazy after I got the upgraded version of ClipStudioPaint, allowing me to FINALLY animate. Mixed in with college finals and so I haven’t posted any art.

But it’s literally been a month so that I apologize for! (I ugh... get slight anxiety about not replying for awhile, etc. and so prolong longer so my bad I love ya guys.)

I just wanna tell everyone that I am indeed alive. I’m going to try to be more forward about posting art and less in the paranoia of “what if someone steals my art?”

So have a bunch of my boy Flitz being a cute sweetie pie and a dork!

Title Screen (of a single frame) is done! This. literally took me a day and a half to draw and color but I’m proud of it!

And what’s this? A mystery entity??? And the robot I briefly mentioned?! Oh my who could they be!

I had meant to hide these two until I posted the animations they’d be in. But that’ll be a long while and I haven’t posted here in too long.

Story Updates

I am doing everything on my own for this project. Backgrounds, animations, story boarding. Everything but the voice acting I still need to find people for. Plus I draw slow...

I’ve been going back and forth instead of in order (sorry). Leaving a lot of Flitz drawings to be unseen. And animations are lacking until I can upgrade to Clip Studio Paint EX because that has no frame limit like in Pro.

But I haven’t been giving updates, and although this blog is known to only a handful of people I need to boost this story somehow. ;)

So I’ll be updating pieces of my progress more! I’ll try posting a walking animation this weekend or the next. I want a short sometime this year to come out too guys.
