Ok 3 things: 1) literally the best video I have ever watched in my life. 2) ever quote in this movie I could name the episode it came from - does that make me obsessive or just a true fan? 3) this video made me want to rewatch the entire series and I’ve seen the ENTIRE series beginning to end at least 6 times by now. That’s how great this video is.

Google Doodle honors famed sculptor Edmonia Lewis on the first day of Black History Month

Today marks the beginning of Black History Month and to kick it off, Google’s Doodle honors Mary Edmonia “Wildfire” Lewis.

Lewish was a black Native American sculptor whose works earned her international fame and recognition in the art world. 

In 2002, Lewis was named one of the 100 Greatest African-Americans in a biographical encyclopedia by Molefi Kete Asante, a professor of African-American studies at Temple University. Read more

Like always, I have carelessly tossed my debit card somewhere in the depths of my purse, and I tear desperately through keys, checkbook, and wallet. I can tell that I have a wonky, sheepish grin plastered to my face. The cashier gives me a tired smile, waiting patiently. My purchases sit…

think of asexuality/not feeling sexual attraction like this:

imagine you were born being unable to smell. you could see, hear, feel, and taste but you could not smell. people all around you tell you about how flowers smell. how some flowers smell sweet and others can smell more bitter. you’re confused, because you believe that bitter and sweet are words to describe the taste of food. people tell you about how flowers smell, and they hold flowers up to your nose to get you to smell them.

you smell nothing, and you might even sneeze from the pollen. you tell them to stop making you smell the flowers, because you just can’t. and they tell you, “flowers smell so good though!” and no matter how hard you try, you just can’t…smell…the…flowers.

and you can appreciate how the flowers look, and how they grow in nature, and you can draw them and read about them and appreciate the flowers but you are literally unable to smell them.

So, real talk. 

I’ve read a lot of books in my day, but Abarat is probably the first book series that I’ve really, obnoxiously nerded out over. To like Harry Potter fan levels. If merchandise existed I’d probably own everything and I’d wind up on a buzzfeed video about “this ultimate fan who owns every single Abarat action figure what is her problem.” If there was an actual midnight opening for the upcoming book I’d probably be first in line. If Hot Topic sold Abarat t-shirts I would wear them. 

Fortunately none of that exists so I can maintain some level of sanity. 

But anyways thank you Clive Barker for making a book series I can finally get behind. Your welcome. Please release Kry Rising.
