so I never talked about this here because it was before I decided to make an account and engage with fandom like a real person. but I was thinking about the sakura panel again last night, because I disagreed with some things said about it and wanted to think a bit before we got answers today.

bolted upright remembering this, and decided to wait until the chapter was out to post it.

they both called 4 times since midnight. sakura called more before he got to class for the day than nirei did all day.

I'm not trying to say sakura cared more or anything like that, just highlight how impacted he clearly was even before we got everything that came after this.

things suo says that if you take too seriously are a bit concerning

this is the one that started this post. i think this is a normal advice, but the way suo is so intense about it makes it kinda ominous to me

specially when you consider the other time suo flicks nirei, he's talking about being reckless. if you combine those two moments we could have suo being reckless, closing his eyes, and having something happen to his right one because of it

even without the context of the red chanpuru being a family i find this concerning. but with that context, plus umemiya considering the whole town his family (therefore, he can be in everyone's business if needed) puts suo in a different ideological field to sakura and umemiya. i wonder, at what point would suo consider he has to interfere in a family issue, or someone should interfere in his family?

the correlation of having a weakness and being a good fighter suo has its crazy. again, this could be normal, but in the same day suo is unable to share a weakness he has with the group. so even if it seems like a throwaway comment i think that at least for himself, if not others too, suo believes having a weakness means you cant be a good fighter

ok, this does happen to everyone in the manga (except suo) when they're training. but, i do have to wonder how serious are the injuries suo's talking about here, what kind of injuries he had training, what would it take for him to consider training went too far?

last one, let's go to the beginning. the entire shishitoren affair is crazy to me. the humiliation ritual he did with kanuma would not have worked if the real conversations hiragi, sakura and umemiya had with shishitoren, hadn't happened. what suo is talking about here feels like "i talk, you listen", an authoritarian view on education that i belive isn't productive

what if suo looked so miserable (re: that cursed sad panel of suo suffering from nirei’s pov) bc not only is his home under this serious imminent threat, but bc he is starving, in the literal and metaphorical senses.

we still don’t see him eat; instead we see that there’s a huge problem with food scarcity. he could absolutely be doing better physically, but he also still keeps everything overtly negative to himself as much as possible so as not to burden others.

he probably doesn’t even know how to eat his own share anymore. he’s giving so much of his energy and himself to the people and places he cares about that there’s not enough left of himself to keep him going like this.

that shared meal with furin (and maybe his rc brothers + dojo kids too) will hurt so good bc suo is going to have to physically learn how to have his own share. physically struggling to use his own chopsticks, raise his own food to his mouth and eat. to accept care and love (and food) even when you think others need or deserve it more than you.

anyway i’m going crazy, perhaps more ramblings soon to come... if i flesh them all out completely, i will never shut up LOL. thank you for reading!!! <3

You're so right, the moment I saw that kid given another his plate and the comments on the clear scarcity I went "oh shit, what if Suo's whole thing with food Is because he's used to giving it to others" and also, him genuinely burning the candle at both ends is insane, he's an officer at 15, he is in charge of so many things, responsible for so many people, he was coming and going for a full 4 hours every day, not even eating, clearly keeping a lot to himself, sharing he minimum with his kyodai.

Oh he's going to break in the most heart breaking way, I just know it.

Theory for the RC arc

I genuinely don’t normally do theorizing but I think I’m going down a rabbit hole. I made a bingo with basically all the backstory theories I saw here.

Before this chapter I was like I have zero clue what to expect but now I have prediction that I be a little more specific or confident in. ( ofc cuz new chapter new info 🙂‍↕️)

I think that Rakta and Bacchus (I have zero clue if the spelling is correct; I’m Indian btw and thought there would be an h somewhere but I don’t think so) are secondaries or something rather than the other two officers. I think either the rich privileged side of town or the another officers are going to cause issues for the dojo. Or something external that will endanger what Suo wants to protect. Like I feel like that was clear in the last few panels.

That maybe the three of them are protecting their area and dojo cuz their master is like MIA or sick or dead.

Suo says that there are something’s better off not knowing. Few reasons he could say this:

He’s trying to preserve their peace or not cause a panic

He want to deal with it himself

Knowing what the other parts of RC might be too complicated and go against how they were raised to perceive it.

And honestly whatever storm is coming to the dojo might happen. Because I think at some point Suo will have to fail and struggle in order to be pushed to ask for help. I think he’ll realize it was a mistake to take everything on alone and get desperate enough to reach out. Or Furin finds out something happens in the Cosmopolitan City/dojo and go to help out.

As for Furin, one or two of them will probably sneak out or just check it out the Cosmopolitan City and Suo, and then, like, plot will probably progress from there. Or Endo will keep tabs on stuff for Sakura cuz he seems a little miserable now. 😭
