play creates creativity and lets children use their imagination; finding and creating their world around them.
lifeinearlychildhoodeducation:
Baby 2 is a place of wonderment, magic and play. A place where toys, pictures and imagination come to life. It’s also a spit filled, snot mess and I LOVE IT. It also puts you in a daze because the kids are so interested in free play and exploring at this age that its like “Oh my god, I forgot I am...
More Tod Fun!
lifeinearlychildhoodeducation:
You know your kids have you wrapped around their fingers when you are trying so hard to give them that “it’s not funny, I’m not laughing” stare, and SOMEHOW they manage to make you laugh. I call it love, I think they call it “mind powers”.
Yup! I love infants and tods, even work in a center with 45 tods at the moment which is nuts but so much fun and I love my job....but tods are crazy little people!!
lifeinearlychildhoodeducation:
You know how in scary movies when the person sees a shadow behind them but they are too scared to turn around? It’s probably a toddler behind them, up from nap when they shouldn’t be, just to tell you something that you probably won’t understand.. That or they tell you they pooped. Or just to...
The joy of learning through exploring. Oh to be a kid with eyes opened wide all over again.
OMG!! The classroom pictured above is beautiful! I wish I could work in a room that looks just as whimsical as this one day
ececonb:
At our school, our main goal is to foster and harness children’s creativity in play to help introduce them to learning. The toys provided in our school help children learn and develop at their natural pace. We encourage a natural and gradual development of the students in our classroom. Through this creative environment, students will begin to develop their aesthetic needs in order to be successful in more challenging topics, such as science, in the future. We do not force learning upon children before they are ready. However, we promote learning experiences that will benefit them in the future. It is believed that children develop from their earliest encounters with nature, and therefore we have implemented many elements of nature in the design of our classroom, allowing children to develop their own way of thinking and ideas.
Vygotsky was an educational psychologist that believed in a sociocultural theory of learning. A sociocultural learning experiences means that a child’s social interactions lead to connections and changes in the child’s thoughts and actions that vary from culture to culture. There are 4 basic...
Vygotsky
"According to Vygotsky, until children learn to use mental tools, their learning is largely controlled by the environment; they attend only to the things that are brightest or loudest, and they can remember something only if has been repeated many times. AFTER children master mental tools, they become in charge of their own learning, by attending and remembering in an intentional and purposeful way."

A. Hope: trust vs. mistrust (infants, 0 to 1 year)
B. Will: autonomy vs. shame & doubt (toddler, 2 to 3 years)
C. Purpose: initiative vs. guilt (preschool, 4 to 6 years)
D. Competence: industry vs. inferiority (childhood, 7 to 12 years)
E. Fidelity: identity vs. role confusion (adolescents, 13...
There are a couple "child-directed" program planning forms found on this blog, this is just one example that jumped out at me. There's a flower shaped one I loved as well.
preschooleducators:
A suggested way to present a linear flowing programme under the EYLF. Each vehicle represents a learning story reflective of an activity or interaction that has taken place. Condensed versions of the learning stories are written or printed, and added to the display. This makes it easy to have an at-a-glance view of your yearly programme, for parent or assessor review. It’s also a good way to keep track of how you are following up on learning outcomes.
