I tried setting it up so that the age difference between them was smaller, and they attended the same school.
It's interesting to think about who they would have become friends with and how they would have become friends if they had met in a different way. Well, I suppose Furuya would dislike Akai no matter when or where they met.
Mary and Vermouth (assuming they're roughly the same age...) are in 6th grade, Elena is in 5th grade, while Furuya and Hiro are in 1st grade.
