Lately I've been thinking about John waiting to become a dad while staying at Ridge Farm with the band. We see him quite cheerful and cheeky as always during the visit of the Music Life crew (in the pics by Watal Asanuma), but I wanted to imagine him having a moment of homesickness and worry about his wife and the incoming baby, writing "You're my best friend" about them. I'm sure all the boys had been supportive at the time, trying to lift his mood whenever they could 💖 John is always such a mystery and there are so many things and thoughts we don't know, I really wonder how he felt at the time as he had to be away from his young and pregnant wife 🥺
This is also the occasional comic page I try to sketch, very rough and quick but always useful to refresh my knowledge. I hope you'll like it!

I can't believe this was a season 5 episode btw. Season 5 out of 10 seasons. In 2013. A year before korrasami. Just casually open with Bubblegum sniffing the FUCK out of this shirt she got from Marceline. A fat fucking snoof and rub and a satisfied sigh. She got it from a girl she broke up with several centuries ago and is at this point just barely on speaking terms with. Marceline does not know she does this. Absolutely deranged behaviour. The down baddest anyone's ever been. The fact people were still debating whether she was gay after this. Pearl steven universe is nothing next to this shit
“Freddie found himself in ‘shoppers heaven,’ the huge department store Seibu, had stayed open especially for him. He was the ultimate shopper. He was in his element as he was greeted by an endless line of meticulously attentive managers and sales assistants.
Freddie shopped for at least four hours. There were seven floors, and we combed each one for beautiful things to buy for Garden Lodge. Freddie’s battle cry was ‘Shop till you drop’.
He bought a lacquered cabinet in purple, cups, bowls, chopstick-rests and dozens of pairs of chopsticks - some, costing £75 each, rippled with real gold and silver strands. Everything was ridiculously expensive. He could have shopped all night. He loved everything Japanese so much he seemed to want to own everything in sight! We were finally able to drag him away…
The next day, we had breakfast in the middle of the morning, and by noon we were ready to ‘shop! shop! shop!’ all over again. Back at the hotel we could barely get into the hallway. All the things Freddie had bought had been delivered. The boxes were stacked high on either side and represented Freddie’s £250,000 shopping spree (this was just one day)!
It became clear that, large as the Emperor Suite was, it would be impractical to have all of Freddie’s shopping sent to the hotel. So from then on, everything was sent directly to the warehouse for shipping home. It became Joe’s job to painstakingly list all of Freddie’s purchases.
On one occasion, we shopped with Mr. Itami and our interpreter at Cartier, Freddie purchased a beautiful lighter and two pens. As soon as we got outside, he took out one of the pens, ‘Here this is for you,’ he said passing it to our interpreter, ‘as a thank you for looking after me.’ She flashed him an enormous smile.”
