Having only recently shifted her focus from sculpture to oil painting, Austin based painter Kati Williams will be a new name to most of our readers. Her dramatically lit images of mythological figures are heavily influenced by Baroque painting and the old masters of Romanticism, and a visit to her instagram will catch her admiring contemporary artists like Roberto Ferri and Brad Kunkle (featured in HF Vol. 25) , who are also applying antiquated techniques. Though the difference between three-dimensional sculpture and two-dimensional painting is substantial, Williams likens the process of painting to building a sculpture, where she meticulously layers colors and glazes until eventually, light forms out of utter darkness.

PLZ HELP!!! SIGNAL BOOST, ANYTHING HELPS
Okay, so my little sister was hand selected to go to a volleyball showcase in Hawaii.
Which is a really big deal, because we live on a Indian Reservation and this is the first time we had a student from our school be selected!!! Like, you guys don’t even know how proud my whole community is!
But, we have a dilemma!
We are broke af, just a bunch of hud rats.
But she is selling T-Shirts, all she needs to sell is 150 to be able to go.
It’s such a rare opportunity for one of our students from our little reservation in Washington to be able to go to something like this .
Any donation is a big help!!!
Also check out my commissions if you don’t want a T-Shirt! All profits will go to my sister for her trip!!!
I am also going to be making friendship bracelets for anyone who donates over $20!!! (But I’ve never done anything like this before, so please be patient with me)
Guys she’s only sold 3 t-shirts.
Please!
If she can’t sell the 150 then she won’t get any funding!!
I am trying to help her with selling t-shirts but she is experiencing anxiety for the first time.
If you buy a t-shirt I’ll make you a friendship bracelet and a free commission!!!!
I want to see my sisters dream come true!!
EVEN REBLOGS ARE A GREAT APPRECIATION!!!
Help this dumb nerd go to Hawaii!!!!!!!!!

Experimental artist artnadiaduvall’s work is eerie and other-worldly. She combines her love of science and abstract artistic expression in mesmerizing performances involving a pool of water and a buoyant chemical concoction of ink she developed called “skin”. In this feature, she talks about forging a path of her own, her unique process, and her evolution as an artist.

Fantasy Art by Japanese Artist Miho Hirano
Miho Hirano is a Japanese artist living in Abiko, Chiba. She is a graduate of Musashino Art University. The fantasy world Miho paints is inhabited by ephemeral women who seem to be merging with their environment as their hair flows into flowering tree limbs, bird filled bushes, and drifting seaweed. Not knowing all the cultural significance of the natural world in her paintings makes it hard to truly appreciate her work, but it is easy to fall in love with the wonderful women and world that she has created. Miho Hirano’s work is in a group display at the Jiro Miura Gallery in Japan until August 15, 2015. Thanks to Hi-Fructose. You can see Miho Hirano’s portfolio at mihohirano.strikingly.com
