your mother’s actions are her own. you are not responsible for her, nor are you obligated to stay in any relationship that makes you feel demeaned or unsafe. i know severing those ties isn’t as easy as just saying the words, but i think it can help to hear them.

i understand my mom is struggling but i feel like i’m bashing my head against the wall talking to her sometimes

it’s like she wants me here and doesn’t want to be alone but then everything i say makes her get snippy and/or full-blown upset with me. the other night turned into an hours long meltdown where she yelled at me until 3am and at one point screamed at me to shut up. but because she’s suicidal the expectation is that i stay with her every second. it just doesn’t seem fair but i have no clue what’s right to do
