Afrofuturism. The definition is slippery—it’s basically sci fi and fantasy with obvious African elements. It’s BLACK PANTHER, but also Sun Ra, Basquiat. It’s not blaxploitation though.
From Max Dery’s 1993 article: “African-Americans, in a very real sense, are the descendants of alien abductees: they inhabit a sci-fi nightmare in which unseen but no less impassable force fields of intolerance frustrate their movements; official histories undo what has been done; and technology is too often brought to bear on black bodies (brandings, forced sterilization, the Tuskegee experiment, and tasers come readily to mind).”
(I usually don’t feature photos that show fur products, for obvious reasons, making one tiny exception here though (image 4, by Swiss photographer, Patrizio Di Renzo).)
Malcolm X: Our History Was Destroyed By Slavery
on March 17, 1963 in Chicago.
see how little we get taught about history - I never had any idea why Malcolm X used the ‘X’.
How come I didn’t know this
Also that crusty old white man called the named ‘gifted’. Jesus.
Day 8 of Black History Month and I'm celebrating Donald L. Hollowell. He was an American civil rights attorney during the Civil Rights Movement, in the state of Georgia. He successfully sued to integrate Atlanta's public schools, Georgia colleges, universities and public transit, freed Martin Luther King, Jr. from prison, and mentored civil rights attorneys (including Vernon Jordan and Horace Ward). The first black regional director of a federal agency (the EEOC), Hollowell is best remembered for his instrumental role in winning the desegregation of the University of Georgia in 1961

And that`s not all, and there will be more, i guess….
This has my heart beating so fast
This are the casualties of the BLACK HOLOCAUST. Understand we have been under attack for 3000 years. Anyone that comes into the space of African/Black people have never came to do us any good.
Elijah Muhammad preached this, Malcolm and Farrakhan all gave us the truth. Stop letting your slave masters tell you lies and let’s get off both plantations together.
Black girls can really pull off any look and that’s a fact.
The Brother values good points. Don’t take my word for it do your research
#blackpower
This is the freshest Jesus I have ever seen.
Came back on the third day just to stunt.
But can we talk about that fresh ass press n curl look @ God
Happy Easter
“Ran off onna tomb twice” Jesus
Moor Jesus
History books always seem to leave this out.
Don’t let them tell you that slaves are our only history.
When black people ruled the world
History repeats itself
And who said moors weren’t black?
These are fantastic who painted these??? GOOGLE HALP
EDIT: ludwig deutsch <3
Look at those fucking details!!! Look how he makes the light bounce off of the skin, the eyes not pure white but reflecting the colors. Each and every FUCKING CHAIN is painted and highlighted. The folding of the fabric aaaaaaaaaaa
I’ve reblogged this before. I DON’T CARE.
they look like photographs
I THOUGHT THEY WERE AT FIRST 😭
I want medieval shows about these people — we tired of watching white old timey folks fuck their siblings in a British accent
Brothers,
As Black men, we are some of the strongest beings on Earth created by God. Sadly, we use our strength to bring pain to our own. If we had every workingman, every gang member, every military servicemen, the black man will be the strongest fighting force in the United States. At that with every African Descendent of the diaspora we would have the strongest military force in for world. Nobody would disrespect us or our woman. We could buy for our own, build for our own, teach our own.
WE ARE HUMAN
