From Instagram photos and videos, we can easily see that the Netherlands has serious water pollution, while Seattle’s water is clean. No matter where you are, people care about water and think about it in daily life.
So I want to show the difference and the seriousness of the water quality in a visual way. My idea is to turn the chart data into architectural blocks. Each row in the CSV equals one photo, one location point, and one 3D voxel sculpture.
Then I added the CSV data I made in the past few weeks into the input node. The data includes turbidity, value_std, and edge_density. This lets me use Python to change the shape of the model based on these different values in the CSV.
I made six examples, and if possible, I will make more after class. I can also use the data to change the material — for example, turbidity can control how transparent the block sculpture is.
① First, I made a small model in Blender using the node editor.
Then I changed a few settings, and it could turn from the left side to the right side.
I haven't had a chance to set the material using CSV data yet; I'm just using pink and blue to represent it (personal preference).
