💬 What’s your favorite Christmas movie? . Does anyone else watch the same movie over and over again? There are four… okay five… Christmas movies I put into heavy TV-viewing time rotation this time of the year — National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf, Serendipity, Love Actually and Just Friends. Though, truth be told, I’ll watch every single one of these ANYTIME during the year because I love them so much. They’re like old, familiar friends. I have to watch something on TV to fall asleep and these are my go-tos during the holidays. . The last couple years, however, I’ve been all about Hallmark’s Christmas movies. Man they are so cheesy and formulaic, but I don’t even care. I want to watch EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. I lost track of how many I watched last year. Confession: I’ve not watched any this year, but my DVR is full of them, so I’ll be starting very soon. Netflix has also stepped up their game the last couple years. AND I can’t forget about Passionflix. I love love LOVED the movie version of Jill Shelves’ Trouble with Mistletoe. (So much so that I bought it.) I need to watch that one again soon… The hero is SO FREAKING YUMMY. (And if you like him, you should watch The Christmas Spirit. I think it’s still available on Netflix. 💬 How many books do YOU read at a time? . Since I’m firmly in “read all the holiday books” mode, I spent some time on Hoopla yesterday looking for more books to feed my need. (Because my TBR isn’t already out of control, you know.) I came across this one, Cowboy SEAL Christmas, and it fit so perfectly with @BerkleyRomance’s #12DaysofShipmas prompt for today (SEALed with a kiss), I decided I absolutely needed to download it. I snagged the audiobook, so I’m planning to start it sometime this morning. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a SEAL book — if I did, nothing is coming to mind right now — and the mix of SEALs, cowboys and Christmas proved too much for me to ignore. . I’m not usually one to read more than one book at a time. Well, that’s not exactly true. I usually have one audiobook and one print or ebook going at a time. Right now I’m in the middle of two audiobooks, last week’s Read Me Romance podcast and one ebook. I should probably finish one of the other audios before I start this one, but… 🤷🏻‍♀️ Clearly I have commitment issues right now. . 💬 What are you reading today? . I started Susan Mallery’s Marry Me at Christmas yesterday afternoon and didn’t get a whole lot of reading time, so I’m only a few chapters in. It’s a really quick, sweet read. It’s also based off one of my favorite #HallmarkChristmasMovies from last year. So far the book is living up to the story told in the movie so I’m hopeful I’ll end up really enjoying it. (Even though, yes, I still laugh over the character name Jonny Blaze because it seems so p0rn-y.) . 💬 How’d your November reading go? How many books did you finish? Any favorites? . I swear, I was on vacation or sick for roughly half of November, which should mean I was able to find tons of reading time. That… didn’t happen. The month isn’t over yet — I still have a few hours — but so far I’ve finished 13 books. I’m 99% sure I’ll be finishing I Wanna Text You Up tonight, so I added it to the list. Hey, and at least I did better than in October when I only read 10 books. Of course, three of the books I finished were audiobook novellas, but IDGAF. (By the way, if you’re not subscribed to @readmeromance yet, you need to get on that.) It was a solid reading month with some fantastic books and even a couple new-to-me authors. . 💬 Did you add any books to your shelves in November? . I added A LOT of books to my shelves and my e-reader in November. So many, in fact, that I kinda lost track. Plus, if I’m being totally honest, I was too lazy to pull figure out which books were new and definitely didn’t feel like pulling them off my shelf. Is it ok to admit that? Is anyone else in “read all the holiday romance” mode or is it just me? Since the first snow of the year, right before Thanksgiving, I’ve been in the mood. So, I decided there was no need to fight it and promptly began knocking books off my TBR. Exmas was a newer addition to my TBR, but I’ve wanted to read it since I first read the blurb. It so did not disappoint. In fact, once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. . I found Exmas to be a really fun holiday romance. I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance and when done right, I thoroughly enjoy an office romance as well. Joa and Reed’s story was fun and sexy. I really liked how it was told not only in alternating perspectives from both characters, but how it went back and forth between past and present day. I think it’s an engaging way to learn a couple’s backstory while they get to know each other again. There was a great twist I never saw coming and I love when a book takes me by surprise. . It was surprisingly easy for me to get behind the idea of a reconciliation between Joa and Reed without even knowing the full extent of the misunderstanding that split them up before. I really liked both characters separately and together they were even better. Loved their chemistry and the bit of a slow burn between them. Joa was strong, smart and could seriously hold a grudge. There was far more to Reed than met the eye and I liked seeing layers peeled back. Plus, I adored Joa’s meddlesome family. . Exmas was delightful. It was sexy and had its fair share of feels. It was romantic and I love how everything wrapped up. There were definite swoons. This was my first Winter Renshaw book, but it won’t be my last. Obviously I was thrilled when I found out she would be releasing a holiday novella in the series. Better yet? Merrily Ever After features the couple whose wedding in the first book kicked off this whole ride. I was so excited to get a glimpse at Elise and Jay’s life together. . Merrily Ever After isn't all light and fluffy fun and games, but it's a realistic look at what happens after the HEA. Just a few months after their wedding, Elise and Jay's life together has come to a crossroads. Despite believing she was unable to have children, she's pregnant. Jay didn't want children. She didn't think she did either, but now she wants nothing more. Except maybe Jay. The story that results gave me a ton of feels. I was inside these characters lives and felt like I was living in their heads at times. . I was prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride with this novella and I got that. But it wasn't overly angsty or anything. From the fun and sexy times to the more emotional ones, I was all in for Elise and Jay. I felt like I totally understood what each of them was going through and struggling with. I never once doubted they would get the ending they deserved. In fact, I think the unplanned pregnancy actually strengthened their relationship. They were so freaking good together. The romance and swoons outweighed the harder times and, of course, I ended up a little teary eyed before it was all done. . If you've been reading the Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series, you'll want this one on your TBR.
