1 step forward, 2 steps back
Why do women feel the need to change their body? So many women get surgeries or change their body image today in society. When I was younger I was taught to be as natural as I could be. My mother did not allow me to wear makeup, paint my nails (other than a nude or light pink) or even dye my hair. Now today in society girls as young as 10 start to do all these things. Doesnât that take their innocence from them? Arenât parents suppose to keep their childrenâs innocence for as long as they could? But thatâs not how it is today in society. Girls at very young ages are allowed to do so many things that they shouldnât be doing at least until theyâre in high school or adults. It scares me to think that one day I will have a child (possibly a girl) and she would see this and want to be like every other girl who wears make up or dyes her hair 19893373 million times. But even as adults we are acting the same. We are âmodifyingâ our bodies to look the âpicture perfectâ way. But what is the âpicture perfectâ image? Who decides that? Well in my opinion, society which is influenced by media. Media is telling us how we should look. Isnât that scary? That SOCIETY and MEDIA gets to decide what âprettyâ or âskinnyâ looks like. Like who are they to get to decide that? This is what drives women to change their body images. They start getting boob jobs, liposuction, face lifts, or Botox. Anything possible, women try to get done to their body because they think they have to look a certain way. What women fail to realize is that after having these surgeries they are a lot of risk and they fail to see that because theyâre so worried about how they look right then and there. Women should love their bodies no mater how they look. No surgery, make up, hair dye, well make a women âpicture perfect.â We need to realize that society and media have a huge impact in our lives but we should not allow it to affect our body image or our idea of what being âprettyâ is.
Completely true, the public eye is all anyone cares about. Everyone strives to look like a celebrity or a model, most celebrities and models are all touched up and nothing on them is real. Though they do look beautiful that should not be the ideal image like you are saying. Regardless of how big your boobs are, how skinny you are or your height you are beautiful. Only wear makeup if YOU wanna wear it. Girls wearing it at 10 years old is not necessary at all, I believe I was allowed to when I entered high school. But I didnât because I didnât care at the time. Young females need to learn to love themselves before putting on the makeup and the designer clothes. Get your personality right and then get dolled up. But do that to make you happy, I enjoy wearing makeup now even though I know I will never have makeup as good as Kim Kardashian. I agree with this post 100% the media needs to calm down and let girls grow up and become the women they wanna be.Â
This weeks topic is about whatever we want to talk about, and my rant for this week is about fake friends and fake people in general.. I know my last weeks topic was about friends and relationships, but this is about fake people in general, it could be friends, boyfriends/girlfriends and or even family. I may not be the most perfect person and I never said I was but I know how to be a real friend and not stab someone in the back and be fake to everyone, I know my fellow bloggers can at least relate to this a little. We all have those people In our lives that act sweet and kind to your face than as soon as they are with their other âgroupâ of friends you are automatically the âbadâ person, and your friend will talk down about you to them, but when you are with them they will talk bad about the people they talked bad about you to. This goes for relationships also, you will talk to a person for weeks/months and you think everything is going great, then the texts and calls do not happen as much, they do not ask you to hang out as much.. I know we have ALL been through this, and I came to the conclusion of, you are not the problem, they are. If someone can not keep in contact with you or not show they care, drop them because really life is way to short worrying about people that can care less about you, and instead of dealing with people like that find people that will show you every single day how much they care and you do not have to go out of your way for them because they will just always be there for you. this goes for friendships and relationships, if someone does not try to stay/be in your life forget them because in all reality you do not need them, There are billions of people in the world, surround yourself with good positive people and you will feel a million times better! I have been through this a ton and really itâs a you live and learn and hopefully learn from all your mistakes and make better choices in the future, you are worth it do not let anyone else let you think or to feel otherwise, oh and another random thought, be careful what you post on social media because people WILL and DO take it the wrong way and think automatically it is about them, and believe me they will hold that grudge for years, I know from experience, well fellow bloggers end of rant I look forward to reading everyone elseâs blogs. Happy blogging!
Such a true blog, and I think everyone can relate. Fake friends are everywhere, in every friend group and around everyone you talk too. In high school I was surrounded by them, they were all great people boys and girls. But as soon as you left them they would talk bad behind your back. We all knew this was happening but did nothing about it. I kept quiet through most of it, I could careless what people have to say about me I just wanted to graduate. So right after graduation I never said a word to more than half of those people again. Itâs sad but letting go is the best way to do it sometimes just like you said! They take advantage of your kindness and stab you in the back, its a never ending process that every high school in the world gets to go through. I hope people start to learn that itâs not worth it and to let the drama go, but I doubt thatâll happen! Love this blog because I know everyone can relate if not through a friend then through a boyfriend/girlfriend.Â
This week we got to pick what we wanted to blog about. Â I decided to pick a topic that is very important throughout elementary school and all the way up to being an adult. That topic is bullying. Throughout my school years I saw a lot of people being bullied. A lot of teenagers have committed suicide because people beat them down so much that they donât believe in themselves anymore and they figure everyone will be better off without them. I personally know of someone who committed suicide because of being bullied. Â I work with kids and sometimes they will come up to me and I ask how there day was at school and sometimes I get the answer âbadâ and I always ask why and the one day a teenager said to me it was horrible I hate high school and I donât want to go back. When she said that to me I was shocked because I loved high school. I asked her what happen and she explained to me that a few girls in her grade thought it would be a good idea to make fun of her and start to beat her up in the halls. I asked if she knew why the girls did this and the girl said because I donât get along with them. I was so shocked that this is happening in high school. Itâs pathetic that if you donât like someone you have to take it to those measures. If I see someone getting bullied I will personally go up to the bully and say something. We are in college and it still even happens to many people throughout campus. It is insane how many times I can hear people talking bad to someone and thinking that it is ok. Growing up my parents always told me if you have nothing nice to say then donât say anything at all. And I live by that every day and itâs so true. You have no reason to talk bad about someone. The only reason people do that is because they donât feel good about themselves. I think that it is pretty pathetic when I see adults bullying a child. Also I hate when I see a teenager bullying an older gentlemen or women. Its not fair to anyone who is being bullied.
I am doing a presentation on bullying for another class so I can definitely relate to this topic. It is horrifying the way kids treat each other and how they use such awful language without thinking twice about it. They will fight and push each other without thinking how that makes the other people feel. The effect bullying has on people is awful, and the fact that there are ways to prevent it but no one steps up is even worse. My presentation that I will be doing is on how to teach parents and children to be better bystanders in a bullying situation. If you are standing there saying nothing then you are basically supporting the bully not the victim. My heart goes out to those who suffer through school everyday. School is supposed to be a safe zone and every schoolâs goal should be to make it that way again. Put the bullies in their place, and teach students to stand up for their peers and themselves. This was a great topic to bring up, one that needs a lot more attention because no one seems to take it seriously.Â
Friendships
I had a little trouble deciding a topic to choose this week but I want to talk about something that has been bugging me for a while and Iâm hoping some of you guys can relate to. Iâm sure we all have friendships that struggle. Lately Iâve been struggling with my best friend because she does not make time to see me. I manage to work two jobs, go to school, and have a social life. I go straight from work in the morning to school then right back work Monday through Friday and still manage to get my homework done and make time for friends. I also work on the weekends. My best friend works, goes to school and has a boyfriend that she is madly in love with. We maintain our relationship via text because she spends her free time with her boyfriend. I think this is my biggest pet peeve; people who forget about others when they get into a relationship. Sheâll always contact me when something bad happens but honestly I couldnât tell you what sheâs been up to in the last week other than her boyfriend, school and work. It bothers me how people kind of drop friends when they get a significant other. I will always be there for my friend but itâs kinda offending when she knows what sheâs doing but doesnât change her ways. She does this often and she apologizes for kinda leaving me out of her life. Itâs just hard being there for someone when they donât bother asking about your life but youâre expected to be there to listen to them vent. I donât know maybe Iâm missing something. I understand youâre supposed to be there for your friends no matter what but I guess I just donât find it fair. I have people in my life who do make time for me even with their busy schedules and I appreciate that so much. I just wish my other friend would realize itâs not too hard to make time for me either.
Well I decided to comment on this blog of yours because i know what youâre going through (or were). Friends suck sometimes, some people are better at balancing everything in their lives out. I also have a friend who sucks at balancing her life out, she gets really caught up in the meaningless tasks and forgets to have a good time. I feel as if everyone goes through this situation at some point in their life and everyone has a different outcome with it. Depending on the closeness of the friendship, I dropped a lot friends that did this to me. Not the one Iâm specifically talking about because she doesnât mean to forget about me but regardless, sometimes you gotta let go. If they arenât showing you the respect and friendship that you once had then something should be done to change that!

Choosing Life over Stress
Choosing Life over Stress
Project 1: DS:EoA
I am not going to give away the full title of my project! However, my topic of choice is depression. I choose to right about depression because thereâs a stigma that surrounds victims of depression and I want to educate my peers on what depression really is and how it affects us all. When I first learned about depression I was one of many who said, âHow can you be sad for so long that you canât functionâ, âitâs just an excuse to not get over something, just move on.â Those where some of the statements used by myself and others who didnât understand depression. As I got older I started to encounter people with âclinicalâ depression, meaning they were actually diagnosed and given treatment for their depression. Through my encounter with such wonderful people who had no complete control over what was happening to them, I realized that I needed to understand depression. I needed to understand it so that I can explain it to myself and others every day; I needed to be part of the solution and not the problem. I am an aspiring Cardiologist and anything that affects the heart, mind and body is of great concern to me so itâs my duty to conduct such research and seek a solution/cure. Depression has yet to be officially labeled as something other than an âemotional disorderâ but the truth is depression is a neurological abnormality. It stems from the brain, the physical and measurable cause of depression has to do with a dysfunction in your neurotransmitters (NT). Our ânormalâ neurotransmitters are deigned to pass on signals and substances that help us function but for someone with depression, your NT just doesnât work correctly. The âfeel goodâ signal/substance in your brain is not being transmitted correctly and therefore you donât feel good at all. Sometimes you may have thoughts of suicide even when watching your favorite movie. Interesting right, however, âthe real research is finding out what is causing the âfeel goodâ signal/substance from being transmitted?â This project has become very personal and I intend to continue my research and enlightenment on this matter after this project is completed. More information will be provided to you on the day of âpresentationsâthank you!
Depression is not a joke, it is not a phase that you can just get over, and if you are someone suffering form depression; please seek help.
This is truly an inspiring post, not what I expected at all. You put so much heart into your post without giving that much away about your project I really loved what you had to say and Iâm excited to hear more. It seems like you know a lot about the disorder and will continue to help people who are going through it. Being connected to topic this much that also incorporates your field of study must be an amazing feeling, because you sure made it seem that way! I like that you put the actual terms as to how depression begins and how it primarily takes over your life, because Iâm sure many people do not understand it. I know I didnât know this much about it. Knowing that someone doesnât have the ability to enjoy the simple things in life that we all take for granted is so awful. The fact that youâre so committed to helping people suffering through depression is inspiring and I hope we all find some answers for everyone suffering.Â
is college worth it?
Is college worth it?
For my project, the topic I chose to focus on was whether or not getting a college education is worth it? Iâm very interested in this topic because in todayâs society in order for you to get a good job you have to go to college and obtain a degree. Since college is so expensive, students that want to attend college have to put them self in debt in order for them to go to school. Some students who graduate from college canât even obtain a job in their field of study, so imagine if you were one of those persons that took out thousands of dollars in loans so that you could attend college only having to not be able to get a job in your field.  Whatâs the sense of going to college if you are going to have to put yourself in debt and itâs not guaranteed that youâre going to get a job after graduating from college?
On my web map I plan on focusing on whether or not if college worth it? I plan on looking at the statistics of the amount of people that do attend college and have to take out loans to attend. I plan and also looking at the retention rate, to see if loans affect whether or not students drop out of school. I am also going to link the statistics of college graduate students that obtain a job in their field of study after graduating from school. I also want to link the amount of students that ended up in debt because they decided to take out a loan to attend college. I want to focus on these issues because I feel that these issues happen very often today in society. Many students are putting themselves in debt by taking out loans to attend college and sometimes end up being in a far worse situation than what they started in. If someone have to put themselves through all of this  just to attend college then is it really worth it?
I think the problems that I might face while doing this project is making sure that my topic is not a broad topic. I want to make sure that my topic has a specific focal point. Earlier when working on my proposal the biggest issue I had face was making sure that my topic wasnât too broad. I was having problems because some of the issues I had were too broad.

This is a really awesome topic honestly and so many people will be able to relate. I know a lot of people who have recently graduate high school, are thousands of dollars in debt and cannot find a good paying job anywhere especially in their field of study. I feel as if it should not be mandatory to go to college to get a degree in high school there should be programs to teach students about trades. For example, electrician, plumbing or construction all make very good living and have a likely chance of moving up in their careers if you work hard. These trades should be options for a lot of young adults, but no one seems to take advantage of them. Your key points that you are going to research seem awesome and Iâll be interested to see what you come up, all of us attending college now are most likely in debt because of the loan we had to take out. This is a very interesting topic and I feel as if youâll be able to keep it centered on one topic once you get researching, weâll all be able to relate so much Iâm sure everyone will enjoy hearing about this one!
Project 1
Sexual abuse and the âvictim-offender cycleâ is what I decided to dedicate my project to.  Being an education major I know there is a good chance I will have a student in one of my classes who has been abused, is being abused or have seen a parent or relative be abused. Unfortunately abuse isnât uncommon and itâs a very emotional topic to discuss.  I know quite a few loved ones who have been abused and I think thatâs why although this is a tricky topic, itâs important to me.  Iâm interested in educating myself and others about the âvictim offender cycleâ.  After completing a little bit of research I found many articles on why males become sexual abusers/molesters/rapists.  35% of offenders said they were victims of abuse as children.  Only 11% of offenders said they were not abused as a child. I am interested in researching more about the factors that contribute to this cycle of abuse.  Why victims of abuse may decide to continue the cycle later on in life.   Wouldnât we like to know why people abuse others? Why they want to hurt others emotionally and physically? Why they might seek to become offenders? I think this is a topic that a lot of people would be interested in.  Itâs something that can hit home for many and even if someone doesnât experience abuse or know someone who has it will still touch peopleâs hearts.  Especially with all the stories regarding young ladies and even some males in college being sexual assaulted I think itâs an important topic.  These are things that happen on college campuses daily.  I think the biggest problem I will encounter will completing my web is finding appropriate pictures to help show my research.  Itâll be easy for someone to realize a picture shows abuse when shown it but Iâm not sure if theyâll get exactly what Iâm saying by a picture.  Since this topic can be so graphic and emotional it is tricky to gather pictures that hopefully wonât make others feel uncomfortable.  I want to interest other in this topic and show how important this topic is and why we should pay attention to the matter. Â
KJ'e
I give you props for picking this topic as we have talked about before, because it is a really hard topic to discuss. Many people encounter sexual and physical abuse in their life, and though it may be hard talking about it and figuring out why there is such a cycle is the best way to work through it. There will always be one main opinion on your topic and that it that it is wrong and that we need to do something to help victims of abuse and that we need to find a way to end the cycle. The fact that most abusers or offenders were victims as a child is not surprising, they release their anger and even though they know it is wrong and know how much it hurts they feel it has to be done. Right? Also relating it to college campuses is a super great idea, we see way too many sexual assaults and relationship abuse on campuses that we need to find out more about it. We should all be educated as a community and put an end to it. This will be a hard topic I think because it is close to home for a lot of people and gets very emotional, but youâll do a great job with it! You have a lot of great ideas already and trying to help the victims and stop the offenders cycle seems to be the goal.
This made me so happy. Never give up and follow your dreams.
Dogs on treadmills :D
I can relate to this
Project 1
If I had to guess my projectâs issue is very different from everyone elseâs. I have chosen to research about animals in captivity, so more specifically how animals in zoos and in marine parks get treated. You hear endless things about animal activists trying to put an end to sea worlds and showing awful pictures all over the internet of animals being neglected in these parks, is this what happens in every area? And is this inhumane of us to keep these animals locked up in cages for us to view as pleasure. I have been researching many points of this not just the negative, even though I do believe the negative out weigh the positive by quite a lot. I have looked into if animals being in captivity is educational or beneficial to the human race, also if zoos and marine parks are trying to help save animals or just doing it to make a profit. Because there are many animal conservations that are nonprofit, and only goal is to save an animal species. I also have checked how healthy the animals usually are in captivity and how long they usually live, there mental health is usually very poor as ours would be if we were locked in a cage all day in a pretend environment. And their physical health is worse than how it would be if they were in the wild, they do not get as much exercise being locked up. Elephants walk up to 50 miles a day out in the wild and in a cage and they hardly have room in move back and forth. This messes up how they are taught to survive and how their brain functions. Which is why we see so much depression in these animals and so much fatality and sickness. Another factor is the animal trainers and vets who work in these zoos and marine parks, do they really want whatâs best for the animals? They are there to make a profit as a lot of us would and they are there to study the animals. But these wild animals are not acting as they would in their natural environment right? So they are not benefiting the researchers and trainers in zoos or the civilians trying to view them. To really learn these animals and see their real beauty we need to let them be in the wild, help preserve their habitat if need be but they can survive on their own. I myself have gone to plenty of zoos and aquariums all over the country, because I love animals and I felt as if this was my way to learn more about them. But in all reality it is not, I was trying to learn about animals that were forced into this pretend habitat and who act nothing like they would in the wild, they are only hurting the animals who live in there.
