Being that this my last blog post to do for the rest of the semester makes me kind of excited to be done finally. i started to get use to blogging because i had to do it for so many weeks. This weeks blog post has to be about a current event that has happened. There are so many current events that have happen in the past few months. I really think that we should discuss gun control and or terrorist attacks. There has been many attacks and even school shootings that have happen in the past year that really brings a shock to me. So much has happened and i feel like nothing has been trying to help. I personally think that if we get stricter gun laws it wont even help. Like everyone says guns dont kill people, people kill people. If we get stricter laws for guns people will just continue to buy them illegal. Everyone wants laws to be stricter but i dont think that will really help anything or anybody. i know this is the wrong way to think but everytime i go to school, i sometimes pray that nothing will happen that day because you honestly just dont know anymore. Especially with everything that has been going on you just dont know.

Issues at Buffalo State

So this is my second year at Buffalo State and before coming here it was already a headache. Before I arrive I haven’t receive any housing so I was worried that I will be placed off campus at some other college. Another issue I had was that I wasn’t able to get into the classes that I wanted and I did not want to go another year taking only 12 credit hours. I almost wasn’t placed in housing because I wasn’t register for classes that was 12 credit or more but that wasn’t my fault. Classes I wanted wasn’t available because I was told that they had to save those classes for the incoming freshmen but to me that is not fair. Finally when everything was settle and I had my schedule done and I arrive at school things seemed good so far. Two weeks into the semester I’ve noticed that my meal plan was changed into a freshmen meal plan. At this point I was upset because that meal plan is was about two thousands dollars and I was depending on the refund check to hold me until I get back to New York City. The problem I had with that is they are going by how many credits I have which is not thirty or more to consider me a sophomore but that is not my fault. When I register for classes in my first semester as a freshmen my advisor created my schedule so I really didn’t have no say and I didn’t not much about how to switch classes. Then in my second semester I was only able to take four classes because all the other classes that I needed to take were closed and I wasn’t going to take a 300 or 400 level class because I knew I wasn’t going to do my best. So at this moment I had to figure out how to stretch out my money I saved in my account as well my dining dollars. This was just to much for me. Within those two weeks living on campus two serious incidents happened and now all the dorms lost their visitation privileges. Even though UPD decided to do that I don’t think that helps the situation because people still going to get into different buildings even if they don’t live there. Also if they person lived on campus that did the robbery probably still has the gun because there are no cameras in the staircase and they wasn’t no room checks. So I’m not understanding what is Buffalo State actually doing to provided safety for students. What I’m basically saying is that Buffalo State needs to get it together.

Wow, i really feel like you took the words out of my mouth I really feel like buff state needs to get it together. With so much money be placed in to the school where is it really going. It’s so unorganized and the budgets are going more in to one thing than the other and that really messed up. I feel that they should just have a new system of operation so that way we can feel more safer, have meals with no regret, sleep great with no bugs crawling on the walls and kinky spider crawling through the drain when we are taking a shower. Because these struggles are the worst please hear our struggles and do something about it.

That is one thing that i really like about commuting is that i dont have to worry about all the problems with housing and certain things like that. I feel bad for everyone that has to deal with all that drama and headaches. Personally after the robbery happened on campus and there was a gun involved i think they should have done room checks because who knows where that gun went too and who knows if the gun is still on campus. Buffalo State really needs to get it together because lately i do not feel safe on campus.

Let the “sluts” be sluts!

This topic has been talked about a few times on Tumblr and in class; slut shaming.   I’m sure all of us have seen costumes this weekend that made us do a double take and think “what the hell, is she serious, how she walked out of the house like that?” I’ve seen a few of my friends from high school dress up as sexy cops and have their butt sticking out of these booty shorts and honestly I give them props.  First off, I’m crazy jealous of their confidence because that clearly takes a lot and second of all I am kind of proud of them for having the guts to dress like that knowing people will be running their mouths.  Personally, I would not feel comfortable dressing like that but for the girls who wear decorative bras and short shorts good for them.  Girls don’t dress up for guys; okay maybe some girls do, but is that really a problem? They want a guy to think they’re hot; so what.  They want to do their hair, make up, dress cute and show off their costumes.  That’s not a crime.  Talking about someone because they look HOT just shows pure jealousy and jealousy is never cute nor will it ever be. It’s pretty embarrassing living in a society where people live to tear other people down.  I think girls should be able to dress up and show off their body however they want.  Guys can walk around shirtless at parties, flexing, and acting like they own the place but girls can’t display that type on confidence in their body? It’s not fair.  I also hate how people think ‘oh her dad must not love her if he let her walk out of the house like that’ like excuse me? I think that bothers me so much because sometimes you don’t know what’s going on with someone’s home life or family.  I’m just done with the nasty girls standing in the corner drinking their drinks as they pick apart every single girl who displays an ounce of beauty.  And the guys who slut shame because the girl turned you down.  Just because she doesn’t want to be with you doesn’t give you the right to try bringing her down.  In other words, I spent my weekend mostly wanting to cuss out rude people for being nasty and judgmental for no apparent reason.

I totally agree with you because why should a girl hide her body but a boy can show as much skin as he wants! Most people think that a female showing skin will distract a male but what about a hot guys without his shirt on? For those of you who didn’t know, woman have hormones!

This topic is so true. I agree that if a girl wants to show her body off then let her. But i dont think that middle school girls should be at that point in there life that they should be doing it. I think if you are in college you have every right to do it. I dont think its right that a girl has to hide her body when a guy can always walk around shirtless. Its not fair.

Animal Abuse

The topic I will be making my project about is Animal Abuse. The reason I have chosen to use this topic is because I feel that we do not discuss animal abuse as much as we should. The definition of animal abuse is the human infliction of suffering of harm upon any non-human animal, for purpose other than self-defense or survival. Animal abuse happens all over the world. In many places they abuse animals for people enjoyment. Which to me is not right. I feel that with me doing this topic I can hopefully find or at least understand why people harm animals. Many people do not understand how many ways animals are being abused. Animal abuse consist of being beating, shooting or stabbing animals, or setting them on fire. Also neglect is not giving an animal necessary food, water, shelter, or vet care. Many people including myself have no idea to what animal abuse really is. It has taken me looking up thing on the internet to truly have an understanding to animal abuse. This topic I understand can be very hard to understand. I am really looking forward to finding my focus in this topic. You can come from many directions in this topic. I personally want to come from the view of animal abuse in the United States and how it affects us. One things that I found out is that animal abuse are usually committed by males under the age of 30. Also the animals that get mostly abuse are dogs, cats, horses, and livestock. These are just some of the things that I found. As you can see animal abuse is something major in our society especially. Where I grew up would see a lot of people abuse there animal some were my friends. When I was young I did not pay attention what I saw. But as I have grown I have come more visual to the things around me. This has to stop. We can no longer let the world go on like this. Animal Abuse should not be tolerated anywhere around the world. If we see something, say something. One person can cause a change reaction. That is all we need to make a difference in this world. I’m willing to fight for what I believe in. Many back down to the challenge. I’m stepping into it head first and hoping for the best. LET’S STOP ANIMAL ABUSE!!!!

I really love your topic. Manly because growing up in my household we always had pets. Even now i still have a dog and 2 cats in my home. I dont know what i would do if something ever happened to them let alone if someone did something to them. Hearing about the animal abuse on the news kills me inside because  i just dont understand what goes through someones head to think that it is ok to hurt an animal. Just like you said when you were younger you didnt understand what you saw,  i was the same way. But now i completely understand everything and just dont get how someone can do that to a poor animal

This weeks topic is about whatever we want to talk about, and my rant for this week is about fake friends and fake people in general.. I know my last weeks topic was about friends and relationships, but this is about fake people in general, it could be friends, boyfriends/girlfriends and or even family. I may not be the most perfect person and I never said I was but I know how to be a real friend and not stab someone in the back and be fake to everyone, I know my fellow bloggers can at least relate to this a little. We all have those people In our lives that act sweet and kind to your face than as soon as they are with their other “group” of friends you are automatically the “bad” person, and your friend will talk down about you to them, but when you are with them they will talk bad about the people they talked bad about you to. This goes for relationships also, you will talk to a person for weeks/months and you think everything is going great, then the texts and calls do not happen as much, they do not ask you to hang out as much.. I know we have ALL been through this, and I came to the conclusion of, you are not the problem, they are. If someone can not keep in contact with you or not show they care, drop them because really life is way to short worrying about people that can care less about you, and instead of dealing with people like that find people that will show you every single day how much they care and you do not have to go out of your way for them because they will just always be there for you. this goes for friendships and relationships, if someone does not try to stay/be in your life forget them because in all reality you do not need them, There are billions of people in the world, surround yourself with good positive people and you will feel a million times better! I have been through this a ton and really it’s a you live and learn and hopefully learn from all your mistakes and make better choices in the future, you are worth it do not let anyone else let you think or to feel otherwise, oh and another random thought, be careful what you post on social media because people WILL and DO take it the wrong way and think automatically it is about them, and believe me they will hold that grudge for years, I know from experience, well fellow bloggers end of rant I look forward to reading everyone else’s blogs. I completely agree 100% with everything you said. It is so hard to find a true friend now a days. Even with family you can never trust them 100% of the time either. I like how you said that if they dont keep in contact with you that you dont need them because its the truth if you continue to reach out to a certain person and they cant even be bothered to answer you at all then you dont need them in your life you deserve someone better then that as a friend, Especially if youre going through something personally and you want that persons advice and they cant be bothered to help you.

This week we got to pick what we wanted to blog about.  I decided to pick a topic that is very important throughout elementary school and all the way up to being an adult. That topic is bullying. Throughout my school years I saw a lot of people being bullied. A lot of teenagers have committed suicide because people beat them down so much that they don’t believe in themselves anymore and they figure everyone will be better off without them. I personally know of someone who committed suicide because of being bullied.  I work with kids and sometimes they will come up to me and I ask how there day was at school and sometimes I get the answer “bad” and I always ask why and the one day a teenager said to me it was horrible I hate high school and I don’t want to go back. When she said that to me I was shocked because I loved high school. I asked her what happen and she explained to me that a few girls in her grade thought it would be a good idea to make fun of her and start to beat her up in the halls. I asked if she knew why the girls did this and the girl said because I don’t get along with them. I was so shocked that this is happening in high school. It’s pathetic that if you don’t like someone you have to take it to those measures. If I see someone getting bullied I will personally go up to the bully and say something. We are in college and it still even happens to many people throughout campus. It is insane how many times I can hear people talking bad to someone and thinking that it is ok. Growing up my parents always told me if you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all. And I live by that every day and it’s so true. You have no reason to talk bad about someone. The only reason people do that is because they don’t feel good about themselves. I think that it is pretty pathetic when I see adults bullying a child. Also I hate when I see a teenager bullying an older gentlemen or women. Its not fair to anyone who is being bullied.

This week journal i decided im going to write about my favorite vacation. When I was in 7th grade my grandma decided to move to Florida in July. It sucked that she wanted to move far away from us but it was in her best decision. After she sold her house and found a place to live down there, she asked if I wanted to go to Florida for the whole summer and of course i said yes. We left July 5th and i stayed until the end of August. It was my favorite vacation because i got to spend a lot of time with my grandma and all my aunts and uncles that live in Florida. It was great we went to beach almost every other day. I got to go to Bush Gardens for the first time ever and same thing with sea world. The worse part about the trip was that i knew at the end of the trip i would have to say bye to my favorite grandma and i wouldnt know how long till i would see her again. When the trip came to an end my mom came down to fly home with me because she didnt want me to fly alone. My uncle surprised all of us and took us to a resort before we left. My mom and I went parasailing. It was so beautiful. Leaving Florida was the hardest because i didnt know how long it was going to be until i saw my grandma again. She came back to buffalo when my brother graduated highschool and when i did too. That was the next time i saw her. My brother and i decided to surprise her in Florida last may and that was one of the best ideas we ever had. We only spent a weekend with her but it was well worth it.

This week we get to choose what we want to blog about. The thing I choose to blog about is friendships. I choose this because when I was growing up I always had my one best friend with me all the time 24/7. Going through elementary school we always were together. When we got into middle school we started drifting apart and becoming are own person. We realized that we didn’t need to be with each other 24/7 and we started making new friends. We went into high school as good friends but now we don’t even talk to each other. Throughout high school rumors were spread and drama started. I haven’t seen her since graduation what so ever and she even lives on my street. We barely ever talk anymore also. I decided to blog about this topic because you realize people tell you that they will always be there for you whenever you need them and it’s a lie.

Going through the blogs that  i went through, i realized that all of us have different topics that mean something to us. I would have never thought of doing some of the topics that I saw. Its always a good thing to see what is important to other people and what there view is on for certain things. Some things may be very important to me but to someone else it might not mean anything to them and they dont even care about the topic like i do.

Recently there have been videos accusing Planned Parenthood employees of discussing how to get tissue samples from aborted fetuses. The allegations were false and officials of Planned Parenthood proved that they would not profit from such actions and they had full consent from their patients. Through all of this, there is a move to defund Planned Parenthood entirely. I took interest in this because abortion is a very controversial issue in America. But what the opposing side doesn’t understand is that you are not just cutting the funding for and abortion clinic. You are cutting the funding for mammogram testing, sex education classes, as well as, counseling services. Cecile Richards who is the founder of Planned Parenthood recently testified before Congress defending Planned Parenthood. It was honestly upsetting to watch her have to explain what a mammogram was, and how it benefited the health and prevention of breast cancer in women. Planned Parenthood is not just a chain of abortion clinics. It provides education of topics most are confused or scared about. It provides early testing for breast cancer. It provides STD/STI, HIV/AIDS testing. It provides security. What I am focusing on is their other outlets and resources that they provide that will suffer or stop completely if Planned Parenthood is defunded. They provide classes, information sessions, as well as, one on one talks about Abortion, Birth Control, Body Image, General Health Care, Men’s Sexual Health, Morning-After Pill (Emergency Contraception), Pregnancy, Relationships, Sex, Sexuality, Sexual Orientation & Gender, STD’s, and Women’s Health. On top of that, they provide affordable health care. That is just to name a few. 1 in 5 women have used resources provided by Planned Parenthood at least once in their life, they have about seven hundred centers located throughout the United States, and have been educating people about sexual health, healthy relationships, mental health, and the general health of the human body.one major resource that could be taken away is Planned Parenthood Global, which is their international division that have been helping women, men, and the youth in developing countries with limited resources have access to health care. The potential defunding of Planned Parenthood doesn’t just get rid contraception and abortions, it takes away affordable resources that are out of reach for a good portion of the population. It provides help and reassurance. Getting rid of Planned Parenthood is not getting rid of a problem, it is creating multiple.

Before reading this blog about planet parenthood, I had never heard of planet parenthood before nor did I know what it was/meant. Granted I sort of don’t need to know, nevertheless I think this thing is a great Idea. I also agree with it, after reading this small article I can honestly say that with all of the sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy now a days i think it is something young men and women need because a lot of people, kids especially are uneducated about these kinds of things and Planet parenthood seems like a safe-haven yet it is also resourceful.

Reading all of that  i had no idea that planned parenthood ever got accused of that. All i knew about planned parenthood is that they help girls if they need help with certain issues that may of happened. I agree with you that abortion is a very huge topic to everyone because everyone has different views based on where they grew up and how they grew up. I had no idea that there was going to be taking away money would happen for planned parenthood. I personally think that planned parenthood is actually a good resource.

Childhood Obesity

Hmm, what is childhood obesity if you may ask? it is a bunch of fat kids? one would usually say. Well the medical definition for childhood obesity is  Children that become overweight and obese for a variety of reasons. The most common causes are genetic factors, lack of physical activity, unhealthy eating patterns, or a combination of these factors. Only in rare cases is being overweight caused by a medical condition such as a hormonal problem, According to (webmd.com). So what this all means is that  kids in the United States are getting dangerously over weight and its a risk factor for a lot of diseases like heart disease, and Type 1 and 2 Diabetes. And that not good for our future generations that wants to become doctors, lawyer, scientists and many more.  So what usually causes these problem one may ask, and the answers are lack of funding in the public schools where these kids has no opportunity to be involved in a gym class instead they offer 15 mins break to run around the yard ( if they have one ) as well as the funding to have health classes to teach others about there bodies and most importantly the fat intake in our bodies. Another cause can be the advertisements that attracts our eye and our future generations eye. Especially with the FREE TOY in every happy meal. So how can we help to fix this problem , in my opinion I believe we should help to encourage our kids to drink water and 100% fruit juices , as well we should have healthy alternatives to the food like fresh fruit, veggies, lean protein ( Chicken Breast, Turkey) instead of the fried foods try grilling or baked and make sure you enjoy it and teach others as well.  And that’s the ROYAL TEA on Childrenhood Obesity.

You provide a lot of information about obesity that i had no idea about. This is a great topic to talk about because so many young kids are overweight and its not healthy at all. I agree that the free toy in the kids meals from mcdonalds or burger king is what really makes the kids want to go there, i mean who wouldnt want to get a free toy with the meal. The only way that we will be able to change this happening to some many kids is by having more healthy restaurants around instead of the garbage food.

Picking out a topic for my project became such a tough one for me. I didn’t want to do the standard super hero theme or about how cafeteria food is just bad. I wanted to do something that can lead to such drastic ideas that make everyone think to other topics. I choose to do my topic on the differences in the schools from new York and Georgia. It sounds weird but you would find that it is an interesting topic when you look more into it. I have been in both high schools in Georgia and in new York and you would be shocked to know my own experience. When I was in Georgia, we had a lot of resources and teachers at hand whenever we need. There was so much to do. In the beginning of the year, we had lockers and we were all assigned books that we would keep there. We would go from class to class as the bell rung to signal when to leave. We would always have morning announcements through the tv that the students from the BVC club. We had homeroom so they would hand out important information or use that time to study for a little bit. On occasion, we would meet up in homeroom when we had a pep ralley. We would all walk into the gymnasium and gather into the correct section of bleachers. As for me, I would be in the marching band. I would play little songs to get the crowd excited for the game that will be played later on that night. There was many clubs and organization that ranged from so many interests and topics. They all were active and were well represented in the school.

But as I went to school in New York, I found that it was different. As I set foot into my first day of school, I noticed that my school shared the building with 5 other schools. I found it weird but didn’t mind it at all. I also noticed that I didn’t get any books for my subjects. Matter of fact, you didn’t get a locker or no supplies to help me through school. I noticed that if you had a notebook and a pen, you were pretty much set for your day. There were no football fields as well as not much clubs except for the music club and it wasn’t music for classical but for modern day. Our classes were only equipped with an old chalk board no central AC. Only one of the classrooms had a smart board and that was considered of our more “tech savvy” room that we had to share with the school next to us. It is sad to come from a school that has so much to teachers having to come out of pocet just for chalk. No real classes were taken because no one had the funding for it. They came up with creative classes title so they wouldn’t have to use the required materials it takes to learn the subject. And it is crazy to know that they title New York schools as the most well funded schools in America. So some may wonder, why did the money go?

Thats actually a really interesting topic to pick. I have lived in buffalo my whole life so i never got to experience any other states schooling. i have heard that schools in New York are sometimes farther ahead in some subjects compared to the other schools. My high school is just like the one you went to in Georgia, the only thing my high school didnt have was homeroom. we would go straight to first period when we got to school that day. I think that you topic will show many differences between any schools out of state. i would have never thought to do a topic like this.

Aren’t we supposed to feel safe?

I would think that everyone has heard about or at least have gotten an email concerning what has been going on campus. Isn’t it scary? Well it’s terrifying to me especially. Being away from home is tough enough but now were on campus away from our families by our selves and we expect to feel safe in our “new home.” But are we really? How is it that we feel scared to walk back to our dorms and fear what could happen to us when were on campus. One of the incidents that occurred happen to be right in front of my building, that’s what scares me the most honestly. The place where I’m supposed to feel safe, my “home,” I don’t because people decided to be foolish.  Many people are arguing about who’s “fault” it basically is and what people fail to see is it’s the people who actually did it not the UPD or RA’s. How can it be their fault honestly? Yes they’re ways we can secure this school more and try and make it a safer campus but it’s not their fault that these incidents occurred.  Another problem that people are addressing is that they are blaming “city kids.” Now how can you blame this on a group up people implying that because they’re from the city it’s there fault because they are the ones doing these crimes. Why are people targeting one type of group of people? We are arguing and blaming the wrong people and many of us don’t realize that. I would hope that our campus would be a safer place but we also fail to realize that this is the real world now, we are adults, and crimes are going to occur. It’s sad that they have to happen right here on campus but this isn’t high school where were watched all day by adults. There is more freedom here and that’s why people are doing these things because no one is watching them all day, its something that is difficult to stop from happening. But what we can do is put more cameras and security up because if these incidents do occur at least we can catch them. If people are being caught then less people will stop committing this crimes or actions because they know they’re going to get caught, its common sense really.

Since im from Buffalo i kind of knew that campus wasnt in such a good neighborhood. But this year really has shown me how people can really act in depressed measure. I completely agree that its not fair to the students on campus walking back to the dorms, they shouldnt have to feel scared on campus they should feel like they are safe being away from home. I think the security guards should have to work overnights and divide between everyone. We are in college and suppose to be acting like adults but many of the students dont and that is probably one of the biggest issues.

Ready to go home

I thought it would be exciting to be so far from home and be on my own. But I miss my parents and my family. Yeah it is fun when you on your own and you don’t have to worry about parents nagging you. You make all your decisions and have take a lot of responsibility. You have to go out and get a job so you can provide for yourself cause you can’t always ask mommy and daddy. You have to wake up on your own. You got cook your own food. Gotta go Grocery shopping and do your own laundry. If you have to go to see the doctor or you have an emergency mommy and daddy not there to hold your hand. If you sick mommy and daddy is not going be there to make you a nice warm soup you have to get up and make you own. Unless you have a nice friend who is going make you one. One thing they don’t tell you is that college can become real stressful. Especially trying to keep with everything sometimes you tend to lose track. Makes me miss my high school senior year when I only had one class and was working getting money and being a teenager. Now every other day I got write an essay and study for exams. I have to work on top that and try to stay active in sports. Sometimes it get to you and becomes to much. Then I just think about it as an obstacle that is in my way until I get to my ultimate goal and that is to be successful. When I go home I going to give my mom the biggest hug and my dad the same and thank them for blessing me. For also give me guidelines and rules and raising me the right way or to the best of their abilities. When I get home I can’t wait for real food. Can’t wait for my bed that way more comfortable then the one in buffalo. I miss my twin sister cause me and her did everything together and never been separated for a long time. My first year in college has it ups and downs by I am ready to go home. I miss my grandma who would such all sports games with me and we stay there and argue who is going win. She use to always make fun of me everytime one of my favorite players lost a game. But When they won I was loud and all up in her face. I just miss certain things that were back home and my parents to be honest. To need get away from buffalo need a break.

I have always wanted to move out on my own and depend on myself. But so many of my friends have done it and they say it is the most stressful thing in the world.  I still live at home with my parents and commute to school because it is so much cheaper and easier. I have always wanted to move out on my own just to see how it is and how i would like it. Even though i live at home i still do my own laundry, go grocery shopping and even cook my own food. I mean yeah living at home with your parents can be the dream but i rather start doing this stuff now so im kind of ready for when i get my own place.

So I hear that this is the end of our third week here at school.  Which means we have… thirteen weeks left.  I suppose the fact that I am already counting down the time to the end of school is not a great thing.  I think it is safe to say that quite a few students cannot wait until the end of the semester.  Most likely because they do not like school.  Of course not everyone feels this way about school.  I use to be one of these students.  College has changed that sadly.  Maybe I should have taken my parents offer to taking a semester off.  But that is beside the point.  The study about the magazines in waiting rooms got me thinking, I wonder if there has ever been a study of the “college experience” causing students to suffer academically.  If, as much as people say going away to college is a good thing, that it could actually be a bad thing for others.  A friend and I were talking about how it seems that colleges now a days accept anyone who has a pulse.  With so many people, even at small schools, there are way too many students to the amount of space and resources.  For those of us who are not use to being around so many people it can be quite overwhelming.  I have heard it be said that this is just one of those things that college students have to get over it.  But I wonder how many students never get use to it.  Some other  ”college experiences” include smoking, which is hunky dory for those who are into it, but it gives me a really bad headache which sucks cause the smell is literally everywhere which means I almost always have a headache.  My mom is actually allergic which is funny because who know that someone could be allergic to pot.  I suppose it makes sense because it is a plant and a lot of people are allergic to plants.  Which again is not the point.  The point is that there a lot of factors involved with going away to school that, if students are not what the college expects, the college has no idea what to do with them.  This is what bothers me.  That maybe not everyone is what they are expected to be and that the powers to be would rather sweep us under the rug then figuring out how to work with different types of people.

I have been counting down the weeks left of school ever since we have started this semester. I agree completely when you say that the schools accept anything with a pulse. I also agree when you say that the school accept to many people because then we never have enough resources and its not fair to anyone. Many people are paying out of pocket for school and then they get screwed over with not being able to use resources and space because there is not enough.  Its all about the money probably. I wouldn’t know how it is going away to school because i live in Buffalo.  I have always wanted to go away.

My thoughts..

There are times I think about why am I in college. Why is college a necessity, why can’t people get a good paying job based on your skills, or talent. I have been in school for 18 years of my life and then post-secondary education. But I honestly have no choice if I don’t have a college education. My future goals cannot be attained if I don’t receive a college education. Being a first generation student I have to set a precedent for the younger kids in my family. One of my goals is to become a financial analyst or a brand advertiser and promoter. Another one of my goals is to be an influential person, someone who could look up to me and say I inspired them to do something. I feel everyone needs someone they could look up to when times get tough.

That quote is something I learned to help me remember when things get hard to persevere. I learned at a young age life won’t be smooth sailing. I would always look at my friend’s lives and family situation and think why can’t my life be so simple. But as I got older I realized their situations seemed nice on the outside, but they had problems just like everyone else. Even in college I try not to let things get in my way of being successful. When I feel I am struggling with schoolwork I will get a tutor. If I need someone to talk to I’ll talk to a friend to help me with my problems. But I can’t let anything stop me from achieving my goals to become someone in life. I participate in college clubs and activities because I think college prepares you for the real world. By being active on campus you give yourself the opportunity to meet people and network. Some people may find the love of their lives at college, or find their next interviewer for job position they wanted. By the end of my college career I would like to leave Buffalo State as better person. Someone who isn’t afraid to take a challenge be able to fight through tough times, and still remain humble. I would like to make a difference and I will take it one day at a time.

I agree 100% with this post. I always think to myself why i have to be in college. It stinks that the only way we will be able to get a good job in the future is by having a college education. I was always told at a young age that things wont come easy and going to college i finally realized that. I really like the quote that you put into the post. I can really relate to this quote. I hope I become a better person when i leave Buffalo State as well. Everyone can make a difference you just have to show you want too.

Cartoons

Growing up we had the best cartoon shows on television. We had Rugrats, rocket power, Catdog, Ed Ed and Eddy and Scooby-Doo. The shows would keep all of us entertain for hours on end. My favorite show out of all the 90 cartoons would for sure have to be Rugrats. Lately I have noticed that a lot of the new cartoons that have been coming out do not even compare to the cartoons that I grew up watching. I realized also that when they make a remake of a show it’s not even comparable to the original. For example the old Scooby-Doo was so entertaining, then the one that is on television now. The new cartoon shows that are on television don’t really keep the kids entertain I feel like. When I’m babysitting I always ask the kids what kind of cartoons they want to watch and they always pick the older version of the cartoons. I asked the kids why one day and they said that the new cartoons are not as funny as the older versions. The nickelodeon channel will never be the same from the 90s. The older cartoons always had a good sense of humor and a good story for the episode. The new cartoons barely have a good sense of humor at all if any and then they sometimes have a good story. Looking back and watching some of the episodes of rugrats and even Scooby-Doo, you realize all the humor that you wouldn’t get when you are a kid and it makes the cartoons even better than before. Back in the day cartoons would be on all day every day, and now cartoons are barely on at all. Even know I still enjoying watching cartoons if I’m bored and need something to do. It keeps me entertain still even as an adult. It reminds me of my childhood and I get to relax and just watch cartoons and pretend I’m a little kid again. I know many people will probably have a different opinion then mine about new cartoons vs the old ones. I heard that nickelodeon was trying to get a channel to bring back all of the old cartoons from the 1990’s. I really hope this happens so we all have a chance to watch the cartoons we grew up with and it would bring back a lot of good memories for everyone.
