Chapter 18 Summary:
As the hunting journey pushes deeper into the frozen wilderness, old traditions and quiet conversations begin to reveal cracks beneath the surface. What starts as a difficult trek across the Southern ice fields slowly becomes something far more tense as emotions, expectations, and unspoken truths follow the group into the cold. While Hakoda reflects on the past and the meaning behind the journey, Aang finds himself increasingly unsettled by Tarik’s behaviour and the growing feeling that this trip may not be as simple as it was meant to seem.
Far from home and surrounded by endless ice, the distance between trust and danger begins to grow thinner with every mile.

Summary Chapter 17:

Summary chapter 10:
Aang struggles to find inner balance as lingering emotions disrupt his usual sense of peace, leading to a quiet but meaningful conversation that reframes how he understands his feelings. Later, at a formal gathering filled with expectation and tension, both he and Katara navigate unspoken emotions beneath the surface of polite interactions.
Being with Aang for all these years, Katara had come to learn a few things about him.
Aang was very shy in bed.
And in turn, she realized that she wasn’t.
She wasn’t sure when it had happened, but something about seeing him squirm, watching him fumble over where to place his hands, hearing him constantly check in on her, began to wear at her patience. She loved how thoughtful he was, but sometimes she wanted to stop talking and simply feel.
So one day, she flipped them over, settling herself above him, straddling the bulge between his legs.
His eyes widened instantly, anticipation mixing with nerves as he clearly had no idea how to react.
Katara, with a goal in mind, slid a hand between them and guided him into her, biting her lip to hold back a moan.
She started slowly, rolling her hips in a long, teasing grind that drew ragged breaths from his chest.
“Is this okay?” she asked, pushing her hips forward, then drawing back just enough to tease.
She moved over him with calm, controlled, hips swaying in an easy rhythm while Aang beneath her looked like he was barely holding himself together.
Katara would occassionally throw her head back when pleasure shot through her, a soft sigh slipping through her lips. But she never looked away for long. She didn’t want to miss the effect she was having on him—the way his face scrunched with pleasure, the helpless gasps and whimpers of her name, the embarrassed way he lifted an arm to cover his face.
That part, she didn’t like.
Katara leaned forward, going still as she sat over him, and gently pushed his arm aside, revealing glossy grey eyes longing for her to do...anything.
“Don’t,” she whispered, tightening around him.
Instinctively, Aang tried to cover his face again, but Katara was faster, catching his wrists and pinning them beside his head.
“Don’t.”
This time, the command was clear, no room left for argument.
She used his restrained arms for balance, lifting herself before dropping back down in one sharp motion that made them both gasp.
“Yeah?” she asked softly, pushing up, falling back in, finding her new rhythm.
She pulled back up, Aang's hands still pinned to the bed, rocking her hips, with the hold of a waterbender.
“Yeah,” Aang whispered, lost in the sensation. Tears gathered in the corners of his eyes and spilled over as he stared up at her, completely undone.
“Does it feel good?” She asked, one hand resting on his chest as her fingers traced slow circles that mimicked her movements against his skin.
His answer came in frantic nods, hands clenched into tight fists.
“Words, my love.” She leaned down until their noses brushed, her breath warm against his lips.
“Yeah,” he managed. “It does.”
“Then look at me.”
He obeyed at once, breathless and trembling, eyes fluttering open as wide as he could force them.
“It is good, Aang? Is it good, baby?”
Instead of answering, he suddenly found the strength to turn them over, switching their positions without pulling out from her. Katara yelped as he sank deeper than before.
Aang put his arms on either side of her head and began to move, trying to keep at that steady rhythm his girlfriendhad paced. Katara had to admit—he wasn’t bad at all.
“Nnngh—Aang,” she breathed, head falling back against the pillow. Her legs wrapped around his waist, heels pressing into his lower back to pull him closer.
“Katara,” he gasped, voice breaking into soft moans, tears still slipping down his face.
She reached up, brushing one away with her thumb before guiding him down into a desperate kiss. There was no grace to it, no rhythm—just heat, hunger, and the desperation to reach their climax.
“That’s it,” she whispered against his mouth, forehead pressed to his. “Give me more, sweetheart.”
Aang obeyed instantly, hands gripping her hips as he drove into her harder, rough enough to driver her overboard.
Katara cried out, nails digging into his skin as pleasure crashed through her like a tidal wave.
Aang pulled away at the last moment, finishing himself off against her stomach, breath shaking as he tried—and failed—to steady himself.
He collapsed on top of her, trembling as the last waves of release passed through him. His arms slipped around her waist, and he buried his face in the crook of her neck.
When he had finally calmed, he shifted off Katara and lay beside her, burying his face into the pillow.
“Are you okay?” she asked softly.
“Yeah,” he murmured. “Just a bit embarrassed.”
Katara chuckled and turned toward him, her fingers brushing gently down the arrows on his back.
“Embarrassed? Don’t be. I liked it. A lot.”
Aang didn't budge, his head turning away from Katara's gaze as it burnt the back of his head.
“Look at me,” she said, pressing down on his lower back, gently grazing back up his muscular figure.
Aang slowly turned his head to face her, his eyes puffy and teary.
Katara smiled warmly.
“I liked it,” she repeated.
“A lot.”
