Hi, so like 1) I really love you and your blog. And 2) I've been dying to use your ask box so here it is. I'm a lesbian who is a bigender (identifying as male and female) female and I'm also polyamorous. Recently, I became attracted to not only females but trans males. Though, because of me being a lesbian, I was getting hateful comments and sayings that me being attracted to transgender men is transphobic. I would like your opinion on this.
i don’t think you’re gonna like my answer at all:
lesbians cannot identify as men! bigender people can be lesbians as long as they do not identify as man-aligned in any way.
if you are attracted to men, you’re not a lesbian either! trans men are men and no lesbian feels attraction to them. it is transphobic indeed.
so basically, you’re not as lesbian based on the fact that you identify as a man (as well as woman) and you are attracted to men.
https://lesbianing.carrd.co/#hesbians
lesbians do not have to identify as female (or even female-aligned) to be valid! you are also valid if you experience physical/aestetic attraction to men while identifying as lesbian
differnt types of attraction:
so you dont really have the authority to determine his/her orientation.
thank you for coming to my ted talk, let me know if i missed anything.
like fuck rowling, but as a trans person it has been sort of amazing to see the public backlash against her. bc the thing is, just a few years ago she could have gotten away with saying all those things. less than a decade ago she could have made all those tweets with only very minor public outcry.
I've seen public attitudes towards trans people change so much in the last few years, sometimes it's such a relief I could cry. the tide has shifted against blatant transphobia being accepted & respected as a legitimate stance in liberal public spaces. it finally generates controversy. Finally.
transphobia is still very much everywhere and the battle is nowhere near over, but its veneer of respectibility has been shattered. to the point that even formerly beloved public figures can't get away with saying some of the shit they could have 5-10 years ago. and that's good. it's slow and bloody and hard-won progress, but it is progress goddammit, and I'm gonna celebrate it tooth and claw.
hey simon, that last answer about childhood was really beautiful. i’m kinda at a loss for words.
i- i need to go and sit in a corner and think about what i’ve been doing with my life.
you’ve just managed to grasp my attention for the next however long I use tumblr, and maybe further. you’ve quite literally deduced this teenager to become my profile picture 😂

some of you really keep saying “lesbians don’t oppress us” to sound better but then proceed to talk about how “lesbians oppress us" and further perpetuate the idea that lesbophobia is taken more seriously than biphobia. when in reality, lesbians are constantly being shut down by everyone and our issues aren’t taken seriously. we shouldn’t even be comparing them, lesbophobia is an issue and biphobia is also an issue and talking about how one is taken more seriously than the other should never happen because it’s not true.
if you actually cared about lesbians, you wouldn’t constantly find excuses to undermine the reality of lesbophobia or make everyone think we’re mean oppressors, especially when lesbians have always been the caretakers and protectors of the community. we fought on the frontline for everyone’s rights, and we have a beautiful history, including our history with the trans community and supporting each other. but for some reason everyone only cares to talk about how there are TERFs that are lesbians or lesbian separatism. and it’s fine to talk about it, because we should have conversations about the bad things within every letter of the lgbt community. but it really says something when that’s the ONLY time you talk about lesbians.
and something else that’s very important: i wish people would understand that it’s not okay to make instances of blatant, uncensored, and completely obvious lesbophobia about biphobia instead. when we talk about lesbophobia, it has nothing to do with bi people and we’re not saying biphobia isn’t an issue. stop making lesbians speaking about lesbophobia about anything other than… lesbophobia. this is about what we face, so allow us speak out. just listen to us and respect us and support us. defend us when we need it, just as we would defend you. expose lesbophobia and fight it.
