I just saw a take that Armand, the way he was portrayed in the series, should have always been an eastern European, because then it would just be a white man being evil and my Slavic eyes rolled back really fucking far back into my skull, because yeah, I'm sure there's no stereotype that Slavs are evil conniving violent lazy thieves, right? This is to say, no, it doesn't fix the problem that is a character who's written without enough understanding of the complexities of the source material. The problem isn't Armand's origins, but that his 'evilness' should have been readjusted having in mind his ENTIRE story, beginning to end. Making him MORE violent than he ever was at this point in the story DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. It's TOO LATE for fresh evilness with Akasha at the door, it's distracting and making him forcefully unlikeable. It's just... bad writing. There, I said it.
