___ thor stared at the man in front of him, not moving a centimeter until he could spot something that would make the trick he had known since they were kids. anything solid would work, so he took the tiniest rock and threw it at him, eyes immediately lighting up when it didn’t pass by. he wasn’t a illusion. “you’re really here!?”

“You sure you wanna do this?” Dinah didn’t usually take on random opponents at the gym, but the adrenaline high she was riding wasn’t gonna last forever. “It’s only fair to warn you, I do not lose.”

Maybe she was a little cocky, but she had a right to be. She’d been training her whole life, and could count her losses on one hand. Even Batman couldn’t take her down. 

“I hope you brought enough ice packs.” Dinah wrapped her blonde hair into the tightest ponytail she could, and adjusted her knuckle wraps. “Lets see what you got.”

___ thor raised an eyebrow and cleaned his hands before throwing the towel aside. of all the things he could expect happening at the place, someone wanting a fight wasn’t one of them. but it was a pleasant surprise. “you seem like a worthy opponent.” he stood up and gave her a small smile, one he gave to his adversaries because he was always happy to take a fight. “ice packs are not needed. but I shall ask, are you sure about this?”

nico feels hungover, but worse.  he doesn’t feel like he got hit by a car because he had too much fun last night.  he feels like he got hit by a car because he got hit by a car last night.  his bike is totaled, and his identity is probably at risk, too, but he’s never been especially excellent at keeping that under wraps anyway. 

there’s brilliant blue bruising across the bridge of his nose, and one eye is black.  a split lip and a slight limp round out the look, but nico is determined not to talk about it.  instead, he squints against the sunlight and looks around.  “ i feel like brunch foods should be served at all hours of the day or night, don’t you ?? ”  not that a lack of brunch is going to stop him from day-drinking, as seen by the bloody mary gripped tightly in a hand that shakes.  all nico has to do now is lay low and hope none of the video caught on camera at the bank is damning enough to pin the event on him. 

but laying low and nico don’t precisely mix.  

    “ – say, do you happen to know a good lawyer ?? ”

___ “I do not know what a brunch is. but if it’s something like a feast, then I do agree.” thor was sure he had heard that word before. probably by tony or clint, in one of the many conversations he didn’t fully understand. he didn’t spend that much time on Earth despite being part of the avengers and swearing to defend it. “don’t know about lawyers. but it looks like thou need something stronger than juice.” now, he knew it wasn’t juice, but midgard’s alcohol was all the same for him anyway.
