it never fails to amaze me how klavier gavin STARTS OUT at the same level that practically every other prosecutor needs to spend a whole game soul-searching to figure out.
what’s the VERY FIRST thing klavier does when you meet him? (besides flirt outrageously with apollo?) he helps apollo and trucy gain access to a restricted area so that they can investigate the crime scene! no questions asked, just like “oh yeah, sure, come on in.” and he loses that case with grace and aplomb and not even a hint of resentment.
and then he spends the whole next case working with people, like he’s touring live with a five-man band and okay apparently he’s a bit nitpicky but man, you do not get to be leader of a world-renowned multi-platinum selling rock band if you can’t work with people. and not only that, he’s collaborating with lamiroir to create a song that uses both of their talents to their fullest, AND he worked with valant to put together a magic trick that would dazzle and delight the audience.
PLUS he then decides to just share all kinds of information with the defense that turns out to be VITAL to the case, which apollo would never have gotten if klavier hadn’t given it to him! EVEN THOUGH that evidence will later be used to convict his bandmate, one of his best friends, klavier doesn’t care about his personal attachments or his reputation, the truth comes first.
and like. in 4-4 klavier literally BEGS for apollo’s help to get his brother put away and just
from the very beginning klavier is CLEARLY working towards justice, towards uncovering the truth. he has no qualms about assisting the defense when he can without breaching his ethics and is so OBVIOUSLY good at working with people!
and EVERY OTHER GODDAMN PROSECUTOR and i do mean *EVERY SINGLE ONE* starts out thinking only of themselves, or at least trying to do everything alone/solo, i mean. godot’s whole goddamn character arc is that he tries to rely on himself alone when he should have trusted mia phoenix. miles edgeworth needs to literally fake his death and do a year-long soul-searching tour of europe to come to the conclusion “hey actually, the prosecution and the defense can work together.” franziska von karma does not apparently EVER like working with people at all, but she’ll tolerate it occasionally for the sake of justice i guess? and sure simon blackquill is obviously thinking of other people, but he’s also trying to do everything ALONE AND FRIENDLESS, and actually *deliberately* cultivates an uninviting persona in order to push people away so they won’t try to work with him and get dragged down too!
(i haven’t played soj but i have no doubts that the prosecutor in that game will be exactly the same way)
klavier? nah. he’s cool with helping you out from the beginning. prosecutor and defense working together? yeah bro, that’s the whole point of the judicial system. share information that’s relevant to a case just because it might be important later? yup, already on it. don’t even get me STARTED on his role in dual destinies like.
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. anybody who looks at klavier gavin and thinks “self-obsessed asshole rockstar with a huge ego” has CLEARLY not played the same games i have, because i have NEVER met a character who is so OBVIOUSLY, INSTANTLY, AND IMMEDIATELY pegged as a team player in my LIFE.
i mean he’s definitely a drama queen and proud of his good looks and his fame but have you actually paid attention to the fame thing, when he brags 90% of the time he’s bragging about his band as a whole not about himself as a person, and he’s so free with compliments to other performers and LISTEN I LOVE KLAVIER GAVIN I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE DON’T LOVE HIM AS MUCH AS I DO!!!!!
