( her comment caught him a bit off-guard for a moment, enough for his charmin’ little idiotic smirk to straighten itself out into a frown of painful regret. he knew that this wasn’t the life she had planned for and the truth is that she deserved an actual hell of a lot more - she deserved her husband. the man who hadn’t a single thing in common with zan besides their physical appearance. zan knew that his face was nothing more than a haunting reminder that this woman’s true love was long gone. that man was more than capable of sweeping her up and off her feet in times of trouble, this version of max that she’s stuck with has been nothing more than the source of all her troubles. )
