just for a complete lack of anywhere else to put this (sorry to the spideypool discord server for continuing my role as a taskmaster sleeper agent) but i am becoming more and more moved by taskmaster as a Shippable Character in the spideypool universe. like the amount of time tony masters spends thinking about spider-man is actually wild. almost every other page of taskmaster (2002) is visualizing himself as spider-man, thinking about spider-man, talking to someone else about spider-man— despite the fact it is a comic that does not involve spider-man at all in the slightest. spider-man just factually is not in the entire run of that comic.

except that tony masters will not shut the FUCK up about him

i am so moved by him as a character, obviously. he is so funny, i love his color scheme [that one deadpool run excluded, what the FUCK was that], i love his accent. but his unacknowledged obsession with spider-man is unparalleled. the amount of time taskmaster canonically overlaps with spider-man in any universe [small.] vs the amount of times in any universe i promise you tony masters will find some excuse to bring up spider-man for no reason: huge.

@pandarson i am SO glad you asked, YES, they have a really fun run-in where peter as a civilian is just a huge dick to him😭

which later leads to one of my favorite panels ever: tasky being cocky, spider-man beating the shit out of him, black ant being insufferable about it😭
