here's some [of the many] unused concepts for a Viras fan design that I liked and decided to clean up. These were done for a friend of mine on Discord and I got the okay to post them here. The final design isn't done yet, but when it is I can hopefully share all 7 of the designs i've worked on for him!

for the big turtle's big 60th, i chose friendship and decided he deserves a hug from [almost] all of his monster co-stars. because im cringe and i cant be stopped. also took way too long, as per usual.

not fully satisfied with these, but i wanted/tried to have them done for the big day. might end up fixing a few of them later augh. anyways. friendship.

Gamera and Viras poster for Cyclogenesis

Finished this a couple weeks back but didn’t have the confidence to post it. Still don't really feel great about it..ehhh. I haven’t been drawing a lot lately either and that hasn’t helped.

I made some changes to the lore in cyclogen to make these two more linked, mostly adding in bits to Viras’ backstory and the motivations behind his creation. Specifically giving one of the virians that forms him a personal vendetta against Gamera and Viras being a manifestation of that hate.

Viras and his bio-hazard/radioactive symbols causing trouble as per usual. horrible evil squid thing.

Another poster-adjacent drawing, this time featuring double the amount of losers. I bet they’d have a better shot at defeating Gamera if they spent half as much time actually plotting ways to win as they do trying to look cool and making dramatic entrances. Feel free to boooo and throw tomatoes at them.

Also featuring: yet another slight redesign of Zigra’s armor! All versions of it are technically canon in cyclogen, since it’s constantly getting damaged and rebuilt thanks to it not being designed to withstand giant angry turtles. That’s how I justify it to myself at least.

Cyclogenesis Viras is agony to draw and they cause me so much suffering. His design is like the drawing equivalent of hitting your shin with the scooter and then doing it again because it sucked so bad.

Alright, now to disappear for another month.

As promised[and a little late], here's the intro for my Gamera vs. Zigra fancomic: Rapid Ascent! This sequence was done primarily as a style test, but it can be considered canon in this continuity. Apologies in advance for the image layout/formatting in the post, I know it's not the easiest to read. I'm still deciding where to upload the whole comic once it's done. I'll probably make it a downloadable PDF as well. eventually

a few extra notes about this sequence below:

So, the first slight difference between the og film and Rapid Ascent is Chikako Sugawara's occupation. She's a geologist on the moon in the original, in here she's still a geologist, but is working on a submarine instead. Unfortunately for her, the result is the same when it comes to the alien invader. This sequence takes place roughly a year before the main comic.

I'm still not 100% certain how much screentone im going to use, might have to go on a page-by-page basis. The interior of the submarine was quite detailed and im hoping that the rest of the backgrounds im going to have to draw wont take as long lol.

Also, just in case it needs to be said: This comic is in no way meant to be "better version" of the original film. I'm not making this to try to pitch myself as a better story teller than the crew at Daiei at the time. I just wanted to make a tribute to a film i really liked. ANYWAYS, I do hope it's comprehensible and enjoyable!! I'll probably be posting the covers soon.

Imagine if Gamera's other weakness besides being cold were straws

bad joke, but I think it would be funny because I don't know, Zigra would throw a bunch of straws at Gamera and:

1. He doesn't even flinch

2. He dramatically faints/dies

it took me an embarrassing moment to realize the joke here, but when i did i entered an elevated state of being and begun the creation. thank you for this goofy idea and my apologies, i went a little off script. hope its still okay !
