Agatha huffed a laugh. “Because Mistress Spellman is a fool for tradition and she would never allow any witch of Spellman linage to not be properly training in the dark art gifted to us by our Dark Mother.” Sabrina agreeing to it was likely to get her Aunt off her back. Zelda Spellman had a knack for getting people to do things. They did change from Lucifer to Lilith to Hecate  in quick succession after the fall of Lucifer. “You’re parents should have given you a do not interact list. I harrowed your mother.” and that was the least of her plot against the blonde’s parents.

“I know. My Aunt Hilda told me. She also told me that harrowing isn’t allowed anymore and that because of your harrowing, my mother actually became good friends with the ghost children who inhabit this campus. I’m looking forward to meeting them.” They had looked after their mother, after all. Maybe they’d look after her too. “Plus...didn’t my mother kill you a bunch of times. I’d think that would make you even.”

“Speak up Diana. I detest mumbling.” Zelda looked at her great niece over the top of her newspaper. She still couldn’t understand why the Dark Mother let Sabrina choose Harvey, not when the cost would be her ageing prematurely for a witch. Not when she had a strapping young warlock on her arm. Still, she digresses. Of course Sabrina’s punishment has been a daughter as headstrong as she’d been at that age. Hopefully without the end of the world drama that Sabrina brought with all that infernal teen angst.

Honestly, Di thought her mother choosing Harvey was something they should have all seen coming; after all, her grandfather had chosen her grandmother (also a mortal). Perhaps there was something about mortals both Sabrina and Edward had found...comforting. Or even alluring. Something witches and warlocks seemed to lack. Who knows.

All Di knew was that she hated being in the hot seat. Especially when it came to her Aunt Zelda.

“I said...some of my friends were going to the drive-in over in Riverdale Friday night and I was wondering if you’d be okay if I went with them. We’d come back that night...late, of course, but still that night...”

Did Caliban care that she was the granddaughter of Lucifer? Not in the slightest. He was more caring about the trouble her being here was going to cause and honestly? He was relishing in that fact. “Of course neither of them would approve your father’s last visit he was bathed in ghastly water and wearing deadman’s shoes. A feat I see you failed to take heed before your joyride into a realm you do not understand.”

The only reason she’d not been attacked by lesser demons who could smell her mortal stench was due to his proximity. “I reason your mother likely didn’t teach you because she never wish for you to enter this realm. However this is not her realm either. The Sabrina this realm belonged too is dead. My Sabrina, is dead.”

“Wasn’t the Sabrina of this realm the same person as my mother? Just taken from a different point in time? It wasn’t as if she was made of some other material...created from the ether...” Or even clay. Like he was. “They were each other, one and the same, and as this realm was home to one of them...well, I feel my wanting to get to know it should not come as a surprise.” Though, perhaps, asking her...or anyone really...would have been a good first step. Then she would have known about things like the water or the shoes.

But it was too late now. She was there. And she did not intend on leaving without at least a bit of exploring.

“I don’t think either of your parents would like you being around me.” Well Sabrina might be okay with it. Things kind of smoothed out between them. Her father however? Given her part in killing the girls uncle and trying to kill her father, she wasn’t likely to be the most welcomed person by the Kinkle household. Not that she cared. She didn’t want to be around mortals. Disgusting creatures frankly. She couldn’t understand how Sabrina could do it.

“Everyone keeps saying that...” Frowning, the blonde witch approached the Weird Sister, taking a seat across from her. “If there’s so many people in the witch world that ‘my parents wouldn’t like me being around’ than why is my Aunt Zelda so insistent that I be here? Take part in the Academy’s activities? And why did my mother agree to it? I think my parents have enough faith in me to let me decide who I want to associate with.”

“They always get busy,” Salem said. “They won’t take the time to rush things. They like thinking everything through. Nice and thorough.” And slow, of course. Which was why they always seemed to get busy.

“How thorough?” Because she was kind of working on a time limit here; if it was going to take more than two years than what was even the point? “And I thought Mom and the Aunties got stuff rushed through before.” Like the allowance for her grandmother to attend the wedding...

“I have to try, Salem. If there’s any chance I could be allowed to see Dad sooner, then I have to try.”

“Flying ointment?” Bella repeats slowly, completely unsure that she’s heard that right. Crossing her arms over her chest Bella raises an eyebrow at Diana. “and what exactly about flying ointment has you hiding in the pantry?” she asks, fairly certain that couldn’t possibly be a spell anyone would object to. What exactly was wrong with levitating some ointment?

Oh, it wasn’t the ointment that flew...it was the witch. Flying ointment was a salve rubbed over a witch’s body in order to help them fly. Which meant that in the hands of an amateur, it could also be an easy way for a witch to get found out.

“I just figured...given everything...Auntie Hilda and Auntie Zelda wouldn’t want me zipping about the countryside. I, on the other hand, think it sounds like tons of fun...”

“Oh you probably do, she put a dislocator spell on her office the other day. As, and I quote - my office isn’t for melodramatic young witches and warlocks, pray to Hecate if you need guidance - there was a dispute between the Weird Sister and a warlock that thought he knew better. He did not.” The witch snorted a laugh to herself. “I’ve never seen a more dramatic herbology class in my decades here.”

It wasn’t the first time that the High Priestess of the Coven of Hecate had spelled her office to cause the students to settle their own disputes after her office had become a carousel for the parties tattling on one another for the more violent hexes and curses that would need experienced removal. 

“Well that makes me feel a little bit better.” As it meant she hadn’t totally forgotten everything since her last visit. “Do you know if there’s away around it?” She was pretty sure Zelda was going to want her to check in before her first class -- a class she was already going to be late for.

“I’m Diana, by the way. Diana Kinkle.”

“So tell me Kinkle, how does it feel knowing that name you associate with, was baptised with is responsible for the death of witches?” The Warlock asked, hands in his pockets as he watched the youngest witch in the coven. “Did they tell you that your father killed a witches familiar? A poor defenceless deer familiar and he shot it dead leaving the poor witch to suffer her grief alone.”

Of course they hadn’t told her that. Especially as Harvey had no idea the deer had been a familiar when he shot it. “My father is not his ancestors; if he did shoot a witch’s familiar, I have no doubt it was a mistake. He has no quarrel with witches as evident by the fact he loves my mother and is great friends with my Aunt Roz. Both of whom are witches.” And powerful ones at that. “But while he has seemed to rise above his family’s prejudices to become a better person, you still seem to be stuck in the Douchebag phase. Tell me, is that your family’s legacy?”

“Just you listen to your Auntie Hilda. There is nothing terrifying at the Academy.” any more, maybe one or two obscure things at a push. “Though your mother is good friends with the ghost children that live in the grounds - young Quentin is a lovely lad.” Hilda patted the seat next to her, knowing Sabrina probably didn’t talk about this. “The were harrowed at the school, it’s banned these days, but think of it like a college hazing with deadly results. It all ties back to the Greendale Thirteen and being hanged as witches - it was your Uncle Theo’s ancestor Dorothea who cut them down and gave them the burial they deserved.”

“Oh it’s not the ghosts I’m worried about...” Worried. Not scared. It was an important distinction, at least to her. For really, it was the other students that bothered her. The ones that consistently made her feel like she didn’t belong because of her mortal blood or her father’s last name. Or the ones that made her feel like she was doing something wrong by talking with them. Everyone kept saying how her parents wouldn’t like her associating with them, but if that was the case...then why hadn’t she ever been told to stay away from them? With a sigh, she reached for one of the cookies on the counter, taking a bite as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other. “I don’t see why I can’t just stay here and learn magic from you.”

The child of the false daughter couldn’t even be classed as a halfbreed - quarter-breed? It just didn’t have the same ring too it.  More mortal than witch. Lucky she had any magic at all given being the daughter of a half-witch an a witch-hunter of all things. Still it pained him to set eyes upon the girl. A small insight into how his children with his Sabrina, could have looked. Praise be Satan that the witchling favoured her mother more than her father. “Do your parents know your wander the nine circle?” given her fathers distain for magic, he figured not.

Wandering the beach, she had thought herself alone. Silly, really. To think she could enter Hell without at least four different parties being informed of it. Lucifer might have declared her mother ‘the false daughter’ after the formation of the two Sabrinas, but it didn’t change the fact that, biologically, she was the granddaughter of Lucifer. A Morningstar. And being such...no one was going to let her wander about unaccounted for.

Finishing taking off her shoes, she looked up at the Prince of Hell, shaking her head as she started in his directions. “No. Definitely not. And I’d rather they not find out if you don’t mind...I doubt either of them would approve.”

“Promise not to tell?” Because clearly whatever she was up to, it was something someone was bound to object to. Otherwise she wouldn’t have been hiding in the pantry and giving Bella a fright. Though, really, given the project, she probably should have been working on it outside. “I’ve been working on a recreation of some of the spells in this grimoire I found at the Academy. This one just happens to be flying ointment.”

Abigail checked her watch, there was indeed time for a story or two, depending on which story and how many tangents she ventured on in her slight inebriated state. She lowered her glass to the arm rest and tucked her legs underneath her, getting comfortable in the hard wooden chair, “Alright, how about I tell you about how your grandfather and I became friends, hm? That one was one of your mother’s favourites after she got used to me.” 

Abigail glanced back at the party, catching glimpses of the hostess flitting around her guests before turning her attention back to the young woman beside her, “You might want to grab yourself a drink and some snacks, love, once I get telling the story I won’t stop till the end. Unless it hits midnight before then.” 

With a nod, Di headed back into the house -- detouring into the kitchen to grab a coffee mug before heading to the main room where the party was taking place. Sneaking some of the punch into her mug (which upon seeing any adult would think she had tea -- ingenius, really), she loaded a plate with cookies and with a smile and wave to her dad (who had looked over to see that she was both still there and awake), she disappeared back out onto the porch.

Getting settled, she took a sip of the punch, trying very hard not to make a face when she realized how strong it was. Clearly, it was going to take some getting used to. “All right. Ready.”
