silence filled the room. she brought the glass of wine to her lips but decided against it and set it on the coffee table. their relationship was rocky and she wondered if this would even make a difference. most likely not. she took a deep breath, running a hand through her hair. " your father and i have decided to separate, but we didn't want to upset you or your siblings. "

❛ it is when it’s one or two glasses a night. ❜ he snaps, folding his arms across his chest. he’s trying to be patient and calm, he is, but he’s getting tired of putting up with her ━ especially when their relationship was poor to begin with.

she let out a sigh. " if i tell you something, i need you to promise you won't tell your siblings or let on to your father that you know. " perhaps keeping her mouth shut was the best bet but internalizing was becoming self destructive.

steven sighs, shaking his head in annoyance. ❛ why do you just use alcohol as a crutch, mom ?? i don’t even know where it came from. ❜ he feels anger bubbling in his chest at the situation ━ an extreme reaction, he knows ━ but he fights it, shoving it downwards, swallowing it.

she could sense his annoyance and she didn't get it. she wasn't much of a talker so talking or venting to someone was entirely out of the question. " one or two glasses isn't a bad thing. " did she want to tell him? possibly. but keeping the kids in the dark, despite how it made her, seemed like the BEST option. for all of them.

❛ NO. how much have you had to drink ?? ❜ he frowns, and then looks away, feeling slightly put off. he’s not used to casual conversations with his mother, and usually tries to avoid her, especially when she’s drunk.

stella frowned, then shook her head. " just a glass of wine..maybe two. "

the brunette ran a hand through her hair, letting out a sigh. she was TIRED. emotionally, mentally and physically tired. " how much longer do we have to PRETEND we're happy? it's...exhausting. "

        robin opened the door slowly,  peaking her head in to see if her mom was home.  upon seeing her on the couch,  she smiled softly and stepped inside,  closing the door behind her.   “   hi.  i   —   well i actually wanted to ask you the same,  mom.   ”   she took steps towards her and sat down on the couch next to her.   “   so.  what’s up   ?   anything going on   ?   ”

the older frowned, tilting her head to the side. she put her papers on the coffee table. her smile faded when robin came to sit down beside her. she ran a hand through her hair. " what makes you think something is going on? "

hearing the door, stella frowned looking up from her spot on the couch. she wasn't expecting anyone to be home. her gaze never leaving the front door. upon seeing her daughter, a bright smile graced her features. " hey robin. everything ok? " it wasn't that she minded when her kids came home earlier than expected but she couldn't shake the feeling in the pit of her stomach.
