The Dragonâs Purpose by Martin Baynton, 1988
My very first book which I still have and will never part with <3 (I was barely 2 years old and couldnât read at the time, but fuck yeah, colorful pictures and shit. Also knights and dragons.)
Moral of the story: Be who you want to be, not what others expect you to be.
Why Jane And The Dragon is the shit
Hello there guys, you probably donât know this butâŠ.
BITCH HOLY SHIT HAVE YOU SEEN JANE AND THE DRAGON ITâS LIKE A FEMINIST WHO IS ALSO A KNIGHTâS DREAM CARTOON
THE LYRICS EVEN,
âNo way for me a lady stuck in waiting Iâd rather battle fire-breathing dragons I knew I could prove that a girl could be a Knight Though my friends all laughed at me but⊠â
These are just the first verse, I mean. Wow!
Here is some of a different bit;
âJane and the Dragon are best friends now Dragonâs sweet, he let me save the young Prince Then the King made me a Knight apprentice â
Thatâs right, a female knight saved the prince! Itâs like, empowering to ladies! Itâs saying you can be whoever you want, and that girls can be strong too! She often times beats Gunter (a male) at sword fighting!
The character Adeline Turnkey does not appreciate her daughter Janeâs tomboyish ways, but they both agree most of the time and respect each otherâs wishes! Hey, they have different opinions, but thatâs okay!
Most of the characters reply on quick-wits and mental qualities, not only physical strength!
The female characters who are actually girly, and want to be ladies-in-waiting arenât âPreppy bitchesâ Nor bad people! Theyâre actually very likeable as well. The male characters who are weak are more than just fools and wimps, they actually find their own way and have their strengths too!
The characters have flaws as well, some are a little quick to anger, otherâs a bit prone to jealousy, but it all works out with a varying plot in every episode!
The last episode aired in 2006, but you can watch many full length episodes on YouTube! Each episode is about twenty minutes long.
I leave you with a pic of Jane and Dragon!
Early Medieval grave findings from Gammertingen Germany, 6th century, the princely man was wearing a golden helmet and mail armor. Beside him lay his weapons including a sword, an ax, a throwing spear, and an ornate lance. WĂŒrttemberg State Museum, Stuttgart.
full tilt jousting by Ron Zack Via Flickr: The Renaissance Faire Series Look carefully, and youâll see the blue knightâs lance has broken into three pieces after striking the green knight. Sadly, the green knight missed his opponent completely.
I'm so happy this blog exists! Have a question: Do you ever just get chills from the music? I mean, the haunting melody's, uplifting folk tunes, and pretty darn spooky orchestral arrangements create this awesome aura of history and fantasy combined.
The music was actually one of the things that attracted me to the show. Initially, I found the animation a little off putting, but eventually I warmed up to the charm of the parchment textures that they use and the warm color palette. I also think it features a lot of smart writing for a children's program, and it has a lot of good role models for kids aside from just the main hero. There's a lot to like about this show, and it's a shame it never made it past the first season.
Chocolate picture I made for X-mas. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture when I finished it, but my friend was very happy when I gave her gift to her.
Meh, I drew this forever ago. The quality of the scan is horrible, but there it is.Â
that little girl is going to be the ultimate queen and we all know it
Does anyone else here watch Jane and the dragon? I know itâs a kidâs show but ohmygod
Oh my gosh a Jane and the Dragon blog! Are you up for roleplaying, mun? Because I am a passionate JanexJester fan (if you're into that pairing), and I run a roleplay blog. I'd love a good roleplay if you're interested, and expect plenty of asks from me in the future. ;)
Firstly, I'm sorry that I am so late in replying. This blog has, unfortunately, been neglected for a while now. JATD as a wonderful, loyal following, but it is a small one at that and it can be difficult to get a lot of JATD related goodness flowing on tumblr. I think that alot of JATD fans on tumblr wouldn't mind roleplaying, and I know that there are alot of JanexJester fans. So what do you think Kippernian citizens? Would anyone be up for starting a JATD roleplay?
there once was a lady in waiting (((lets call her jane)))
jane and the dragon inspired hair.
Fabulous!
I can see it.Â
I had a thing for the Jester. and the Blacksmith.
yeah my childhood was fantastic.
not sorry.
Just read that Jane and the Dragon the complete box sex is no longer available.
First off, WHAT NO WHY
Second, this pisses me off because I donât have a region DVD player anyway. I wanted this and then to get a region free DVD player. Thatâs how much I fucking love this show and how much I miss it.
Just.
DAMMIT EVERYTHINGâS WORKING AGAINST ME.
Completely unrelated to everything else, but can we please just talk about how legit and awesome the âJane and the Dragonâ TV show is/was?
Because that show got pretty darn intense for a kidâs show. Like you think itâs going to be about this girl and her Dragon in the middle ages whee-happy-fun...
