Dyle x Bassie.... Ohhhhh no one knows my evil fucked up vision about them....... Unfortunately, neither of them have gossip about eachother. But that will NOT stop me.
Dyle and Bassie both have something pretty important in common: they were both sabotaged by the Founders. Bassie with the note and whispering flower (I DON'T FUCKING TRUST THAT THING), and Dyle with his entire life of course. I think Dyle would be able to relate to Bassie, as two toons who have been intentionally treated/talked about the most negatively.
Dyle might be able to help Bassie. As we can see in some of her dialogue, Bassie's confidence in herself is quite destroyed:
It's like she doesn't know who she should be anymore, so she looks up to others that have qualities she wants to replicate. I think Dyle would be able to help with this, as a toon who had to figure out his own personality thanks to no show presence to build from. He knows what to do. I don't know a single other toon who would.
Bassie could also benefit from him simply being who he is. Dyle seems like the kind of person who says exactly what he means and nothing else. He works best with absolutes, strict scheduling, explicit consent and rules and whatnot. He doesn't do implications, though he understands them. Implications, after all, are just inefficiencies in communication (at least, I think that's how he would see them. He's one of the few toons who calls Arthur by name when talking about him, after all)
Bassie is insecure, and sometimes struggles at interpreting others in a positive way (in fact, this is likely why she was so hurt by the note in the first place), so his certainty could have the potential to be something like a lifeline for her. I think she would appreciate it...
For my last point in favor of this ship... ohhh, think of the DRAMA!
Do you see it? Do you see what I'm getting at? Because this in particular drives me nuts.
Bassie has always wanted to see a real flower field... and theoretically, Dyle could take her to one. He seriously, genuinely could do that. No one is stopping him anymore, not really. He could make Bassie's dream reality.
There's a lot of evidence that Dyle is genuinely a kind person who wants to help when he's able to, even if it's just lending someone an ear, and even if he personally finds them annoying. He cares about how other toons feel, according to his dialogue.
If Bassie and Dyle were ever able to get close enough, he would have a conflict about this. Because Bassie would absolutely ask, with hope in her eyes, if Dyle could take her to see a real flower field. And Dyle, being personal with her by this point, would know that denying her would really hurt. But, the rules... Surely they're there for a reason, right?
And Bassie is a seasonal toon, so they only have so much time together. Dyle would be acutely aware of that. If he fumbles, he might not have her friendship ever again, and burning bridges isn't his favorite thing. Good company is so hard for him to come by. The clock is ticking for him to choose...
