YOUNG UNARMED BLACK MAN SHOT AND PARALYZED IN HIS NEIGHBORHOOD BY FAKE COP FOR TALKING TO WHITE GIRL IN HIS CAR
On February 4, sitting in his own car in his own neighborhood, talking to a female passenger, Monroe Bird was shot in the neck by a security guard, Ricky Stone, a 52-year-old white man. The bullet pierced the C3 vertebrae in his neck. Standing 6 feet, 8 inches, Bird, a gifted athlete, is now unable to move his arms or legs and relies on a ventilator to breathe.Â
Heres what you need to know:
The security guard who shot Bird possessed marijuana at the time of the shooting. He told the Tulsa police that he hadnât smoked it in a few weeks, and they didnât even give him a citation. This is the definition of white privilege. Mind you, Tulsa was quick to test Eric Harris for drugs after they killed him and then released the results widelyâeven though he never acted violently toward officers.
The security guard went to the tired, age-old excuse and claimed that he saw Bird reach into his glove compartment. According to the police report, no weapons were found in or near the car, and no items that even seemed to belong in the glove compartment were found out or about in the car.
The security guard claimed he thought Monroe and his female passenger were having sex in the car and that he only approached them because of this. Sheâs white. Bird is black. Both denied doing anything of the sort.Â
The security guard has claimed that Bird, who has no criminal record, attempted to run him over and basically kill him there on the spot. Â Both the female passenger and Bird denied the guardâs account and stated that they were driving away when Stone began recklessly firing his gun into the car.
The security guard who shot Bird worked for Benjy D. Smith, who owns Smith & Son Security Company. This important to know because Smith is a reserve deputy for the same Tulsa Sheriffâs Office that is currently under national scrutiny for its unethical practices with Reserve Deputy Bob Bates, who shot and killed Eric Harris earlier this year.
The insurance company is denying him coverage because they claim âit was his own fault that he got shot.â

2. the Princess of Alderaan/Leader of the Rebellion having a spat with General Solo about whether or not she fancies him or whatever is so commonplace that nobody even feels bad about walking through the middle of their fights.Â
I mean look at that guyâs face. Heâs seen this fifteen times before.Â
And you just know that people used to be really polite when Han and Leia got into an argument.Â
They maybe tried to walk a different way around the base, or theyâd just stand there, feeling awkward, till Han and Leia were finished or felt bad enough to pause and let them through but eventually everyoneâs just, NOPE, WALKING RIGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE, GOT A REBELLION TO RUN HERE, KTHXBYE.

My first impressions of tonightâs Petyr x Sansa scenes
Okay, so I know itâs literally been years since Iâve done an analysis of Petyr/Sansa scenes, and Tumblr has changed a lot since then, but idgaf. Iâm jumping back in because of tonightâs awesomeness.
(tl;dr: Basically, anyone who still doubts Littlefingerâs sincerity in regards to Sansa hasnât been paying attention.)
When they stopped in front of Moat Cailin
THAT was the scene Iâve been waiting for, even though Iâve been staying mostly unspoiled (which means I never watched the next leaked episode, so I have no idea what happens next). So far, weâve only gotten little glimpses into Petyr and Sansaâs lives since S5 began and the glimpses are certainly tantalizing and hint at what they think, but tonight we finally are getting confirmation about what they think.
I kinda felt like, heading north, Sansa knew the topic of Winterfell would come up and it was almost like she was waiting to find out how Winterfell would come into play--and then her worst fears were realized.Â
At the start of the season, Sansa is so confident you kinda think she must know more about whatâs going on, she must be less vulnerable--and she is to a large extent. But sheâs still vulnerable about one last thing--her family. (And who wouldnât be in her position?) When Sansa assumes sheâs marrying Roose, sheâs suddenly back in that mindset where she has no control, where sheâs the little pawn everyone shoves around the board again. Itâs like her worst fear realized.Â
And then Petyr Baelish, where he could use this moment of immense vulnerability to take further advantage of her, encourages her to take charge and seize the moment to avenge her loved ones.
And the part where sheâs mad at him and threatening to starve herself? And heâs like, âDonât you know by now how much I care about you?â The way he grabs her is so honest. It wasnât practiced, like when he would try to soothe Lysa. Like heâs grabbing her in a fit of passion, and then coupled with, âDonât you know by now how much I care about you?â Very rarely is he passionate. Heâs too careful to be passionate, but he was then. She brings it out in him because he cares for her, and for how she thinks and feels.Â
âWinterfell is your home. Always.â <--That right there. As a boy, Petyr was a dreamer; as a man, he is ambitious. His plans for Winterfell are definitely more for dreams than ambition; true, it helps him and her in their positions greatly--but he always said he would take her home. The dreamer in him, the part in him that wants things to be nice and pretty like they are in the songs, wants that for her.
âYouâve been running all your life. Stop being a bystander. Stop running. Thereâs no justice in the world. Not unless we make it. You loved your family. Avenge them.âÂ
This Winterfell move truly is mainly for her. Heâs not manipulating her into this for his own benefit; he sincerely wants whatâs best for her. Heâs throwing his hat in with her not just for a chance at power, but because sheâs the one he wants to be powerful with. He wants to share this journey with her. And in order to do that, she has to move forward. She has to continue coming into her own and she can never reach the end of her journey without fighting back and taking her revenge on those who hurt her family.
And then the forehead kiss. They say different kisses mean certain things. People kiss the hands of people they respect or people theyâre pretending to respect. People kiss the lips of those that love or want or sometimes even think they hate. People kiss the cheeks of their friends. But a forehead kiss is something special. It transcends various relationships. (Can be platonic, familial or from one lover to another.) Generally, itâs supposed to signify adoration. Petyr can kiss her lips and feel no true feelings for her; he wouldnât kiss her forehead if he didnât have true feelings for her. And also, the length of his kiss made it intimate. Instead of being a platonic kiss, it was the kiss of someone who feels or wants to be very close to the object of their adoration.Â
Then he goes back to his horse and waits for her to decide. When she gets back on her horse, making the decision to no longer be a bystander, he smiles. Now, weâve seen Littlefinger smile a hundred times, but usually when he knows others are watching, his practiced smile. That smile, no one was watching--and that smile met his eyes. He was proud of her when no one was looking. If you want to know how someone thinks, what they feel, where their true allegiances are, look at how they act when no one is looking. When no one was looking, he was truly smiling. That matters.Â
Arrival at Winterfell
I love the scene where Sansa sees Roose for the first time. Her face is very unreadable, but then she adopts the easy confident smile of new Sansa. And notice how Petyr looked not very happy about introducing her to Roose. Normally, heâs able to wear the mask of Littlefinger and wear the face he needs, but here he doesnât do that. Littlefinger, I would think, would be smiling as confidently as Sansa is fake-smiling. Petyr, on the other hand, knows all too well how easily it could all go wrong and that the person who matters most to him is at stake.Â
And then, of course, Sansa being shown to her rooms. âLady Starkâ and âThe North Remembersâ--THAT gets me so excited about whatâs to come and it really takes me back to the earlier seasons when the Northerners were more prominent and things were clearer cut. (Also, I thought Jonâs leather doublet when he was entertaining Davos in his chamber was definitely a throwback to the style of the North, so hopefully that too is hinting at more Northernisms being worked in, as they have been sorely missed.)Â

Littlefinger: âSheâs suffered enough.â
Ramsay: âIâll never hurt her. You have my word.â
Loved their little exchange. Ramsay seems super sincere, but yeahhhh...Littlefinger knows his true nature. Say Ramsay actually really believes himself, that he wonât hurt her. Sansa will do something to piss him off (you know, like not wanted to be raped or see some other person be mutilated, crazy things like that) and his true nature will emerge. Littlefinger knows itâs only a matter of time.Â
Which means...
Ramsay: âThank you, Lord Baelish, Iâm forever in your debt.â
I always thought for sure itâd be Sansa killing Ramsay; now, Iâm starting to wonder if Petyr kills him for hurting (or nearly hurting) her. It wouldnât be the first time he killed someone for the same crime. And the irony when Ramsay is thanking Petyr when, whatever happens, he will be most certainly in some way connected to Ramsayâs inevitable death.
Cersei writing to Littlefinger, I think, will have a lot of people convinced Petyr really is for the Lannisters (which no). But heâs obviously trying not to let her know heâs in Winterfell. That said, it will be interesting to see what she wants from him.Â
Also...
Theon hiding from Sansa...seeing her, I think, will remind Reek he is indeed Theon. And I hope it doesnât hinder Littlefingerâs master plan, like maybe Theon thinks heâs helping when heâs not. (Like how Brienne tried to help Sansa, but Sansa didnât want/need it.) Itâll be interesting to see if they borrow more elements from the Jeyne Poole storyline in the books.Â
Final thoughts...
I love how this episode allowed Petyrâs humanity to shine threw more. It shows the stakes are real for him mainly because of his genuine caring for Sansa. If it goes wrong, itâs not just him who gets hurt. Yet because he really cares about her, instead of merely being obsessed the way so many seem to think, heâs risking them BOTH so that she can have personal fulfillment. (If he was simply obsessed with her, he wouldnât care enough about her needs to risk her, because heâd see her merely as an object for his enjoyment and not a person with their own needs.) And he offered her the choice to proceed or turn back. He put all these things in place, but he wouldnât force her to continue.Â
I know we call it the creepyship, but itâs important to know that Petyr and Sansa DO NOT see themselves as having a creepy relationship. Aside of them being somewhat normal by Westeros standards, thereâs actually very genuine caring there on both parts. Sure, they will charm or even (comparatively) gently manipulate each other, and I think that will continue to an extent, tonightâs episode cements there really is genuine caring on both parts. The manipulation thing is just one small aspect of their greater relationship and I actually like that it doesnât come from a place of maliciousness; it really is a push-pull partnership (which Sophie has kinda affirmed more or less).Â
I hope all of this makes sense. Iâve had a cold for two weeks, so I apologize if itâs a bit TOO rambley or repetitive.Â
The one relationship where there really is a propensity for spontaneity is with Sansa Stark, though, where real feeling could get in the way. There is a humanity there, for better or worse. Letâs just see what happens about thatâŚ
Eric Harris, who was unarmed, died an hour later after what Tulsa, Oklahoma police officials called a âmistake.â According to several news sources, On April 2nd, the victim had reportedly tried to sell a gun to undercover cops and fled on foot as they attempted to arrest him. A video camera captured him, wearing dark shorts and a t-shirt, running up a sidewalk. Harris was quickly caught and subdued. Thatâs when a 73-year-old volunteer patrolman, Robert Bates, âallegedlyâ reached for his Taser, but grabbed âaccidentallyâ grabbed his gun instead. According to Tulsa World, Bates, who has donated thousands of dollars worth of items to the Sheriffâs Office since becoming a reserve deputy in 2008, is a Tulsa insurance company executive. He was working undercover as a member of the Tulsa County Sheriffâs Office Violent Crimes Task Force. The World reported that âBates is classified as an âadvanced reserve,â which means he âcan do anything a full-time deputy can do.ââÂ
Rather than immediately render aid, the officers held Harris down by his neck as a deputy screamed, âFuck You! You shouldnât have f*cking ran!â
As Eric Harris lay mortally wounded, face down on the pavement, he begged for his life. âHe shot me!â Harris shouted. âHe shot me, man. Oh, my god. Iâm losing my breath.âÂ
âF*ck your breath!â the officer yelled.
Capt. Billy McKelvey said the officers were not aware the suspect had been shot, despite the unmistakable sound of the gunshot noise. Bates âmade an inadvertent mistake,â he said.
The New York Daily News reported that no further investigation is planned, unless requested by the sheriffâs office.
Okay, so I havenât been on Tumblr properly (like actually been active and posting regularly etc) in like a year and now everything is different and I feel like I donât know how. I donât know how to Tumblr anymore. =/Â
After months of less than stellar health, I'm gonna make an attempt to get back into Tumblr again. (Baby steps at first.) I miss my Revolution, Charloe, and Petyr x Sansa peeps. I'm sure I have a lot to catch up on in the best way!
