A semi-comprehensive list of every pre-established lore inaccuracy in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Please note, this isnt me saying you cannot enjoy the game for what it is. This is not me saying you shouldnt play the game. But as a long time Dragon Age fan (started with Origins, has consumed all extra media including books/shows/novellas/etc..) the way Veilguard has fumbled the lore is, to someone who cares, infuriating. I shall keep the list under a read more to avoid spoilers for Veilguard. This will also be added to with more points that are given for people who wish to add
But without further adieu;
Bioware Kind of Forgot...
I'm tired of seeing this kind of negativity so I'm explaining all this point by point, SPOILERS AHEAD:
1. Solas is pissed when you drink from the well because it put you under a geas, which is basically a form of slavery. He hates slavery. That's why he disapproves.
2. The sole reason for him doing that was to restore the ancient elvhen kingdom but obviously he wasnt going to let the evanuris escape in doing so. Also, he is constantly lying to Rook during the whole game. Sometimes is half truths, sometimes is by omission, another times are staight up lies.
3. The orbs were necessary when Solas didn't have enough power and didn't know where the dagger was. Now he does have power after absorbing Mythal, and he restored the dagger retriving it from Kirkwall.
4. There was never an "elf uprising". There were a few elfs moving and was assumed that they were flocking to Solas. They probably found him, learned everything, and some of them became veil jumpers. This is all hypothetical of course.
5. There are a lot of elvhen phrases throughout the game, mostly spoken by Bellara. Also if you romance Solas, at the end they speak to each other in elvhen. There has never been much of the elvhen language in the other games, because most of it is lost. It's true that the evanuris should've spoken more in elvhen but I supposed they wanted Rook and the other to understand what they were saying.
6. HE DOES NOT WANT TO CONTROL ANYONE. HE HATES SLAVERY.
7. We don't see any Danish clans in this game. Why do you assume they wouldn't approve of his plan or that Bioware forgot about that?
8. Briala already lost control of the Eluvians in Trespasser after Solas absorbed Mythal. He says as much. I think she had that control to begin with thanks to Felassan, iirc.
9. They were dormant because no one was tending to them and Solas didn't have enough power to restore them. Now he has.
10. Solas lies. He obviously doesn't abhor blood magic because he uses it in this game multiple times.
11. How do you even know he has to be in the gates of the black city to move the evanuris? He is powerful enough to move them from anywhere, one assumes.
12. This is hard to explain because we don`t know enough. When the ancient elves made themselves a body, the veil didn´t exist. Now it does. One assumes the magic is completely different. We can say Cole is a mistery, as much as Sandal is.
13. Slavery is constantly being discused in the game, through Neve and her quests, and then Dorian and Maevaris.
14. Varric is older and wiser. He doesn't move in black or white anymore. That's why in Inquisition he seemed still pissed with Anders and his actions, and in this one he is a Solas apologist. Also why would he not be okay??? He couldn't care less, imho.
15. Hawke is no longer a protagonist, neither is the HoF. Why would they mention them if it's not necessary? Hawke already appeared in DAI, now it was time for the Inky.
16. Rook was in deep denial and affected by Solas' magic. If they heard some mention of Varric's death, they probably forgot or they even didn't acknowledged it.
17. This could be said of every single Dragon Age game. They're constantly killing darkspawn and getting blood splattered all over their faces and mouths and no one is infected.
18. We don't know how spirits work. Everyone in Thedas has a diffferent theory but no one 100% knows.
19. She literally says that the decision to become Mythal's vessel was paralysing. But in the end she wanted the knowledge and to preserve that ancient magic. She had a child for that purpose alone, or are we forgetting?
20. The crows we see in this game is just one family. Antiva is big. And there is no mention of how the crows train people (not sure about this because I haven't done the Crow faction playthrough), but no one nullifies what Zevran went through at all.
21. Tevinter is big. He could be out there freeing slaves, but we're too busy saving the world to know.

Liam Hemsworth made the claim that you would intentionally eat meals with either tuna or garlic before the kissing scenes in Mockingjay. Confirm or deny? It was not intentional that was just, like, what I was eating. And then we'd kiss. He should just, y'know, get over it.

guys... ed 'burnt the toast but added some twine as a flourish' teach and stede 'towels? what is this? are these jobs?' bonnet are going to try to run a customer service based business.
A lot of 2.07 analysis have been about how stede was getting too cocky and needed to "be humbled", and while there may be something to that, i haven't seen mentioned that stede cracked when ed left, but he only broke when he saw zheng recruiting his crew.
This is a guy who hasn't been particularly well liked or respected by his crew (which often is fair), and has been pushed to the side in favor of pirates such as calico jack or zheng herself. Real Pirates.
Well, stede is now a real pirate himself, and ed still left him, just like Ned Low said he would. Stede is a real pirate, and his crew still wants to leave. He saved them from zheng after they killed the love of his life, and they still want to leave to join the very person they had to be saved from, no fucking less.
And say what you will, but the guy chugging alcohol and screaming "i'm a sea god" is not the one that draws the sword.
The guy that draws the sword has tears in his eyes.
